looks very interesting ... I for one would not want to lift a bike up on top unless it was a carbon road bike! 1UP makes a great hitch mount.

I want to carry 3-4 bikes and with a wider 37" tire on the back it just becomes too much of an extension.
What I like about it is that it is only on the Jeep when you actually use it.

Definitely ... I have a 7" extension and can expand up to 4 bikes. Works well. It is a cool product. Do you already have roof rails on yours? I'm running 35" x 12.5" on the rugged ridge hinge and relocation plate. Next time I load up, I can take a photo to show clearances if you want

No, but I am planning to put a RhinoRack backbone with Pioneer Platform on.

Seems like a solution in search of a problem to me. Also, depending on the type of bike you have, it looks like a good way to get an air bubble into your hydraulic brake lines.
