Uconnect update error

how do you get the update screen to come up? I only get it randomly but want to try the update when i can leave the Jeep running?

You make your update USB, plug in when Jeep is off, then start the Jeep. When UConnect boots it will detect the USB stick and start the update.

So the number you care about in that application version string is 39.6. You’re one update away from current, which is 40.1.

I totally agree, but I am struggling to find what else would be causing the issue.

Fire up the Dealer Mode menu and snap a pic of your Radio Part Information screen.

I’m having this same issue with update failing at 18% error code 20. I checked dealer mode and version is 39.6. Correct to assume I can manually update via USB stick?

my car has also been getting traction control error lights on the dash and check engine light showing up, other weird dash lights turning on then being gone next time it’s driven. Is this all caused by the out of date software?

Yes, you can easily upgrade from 39.6 to 40.1 via USB.

No, the idiot lights are not related to UConnect. You either have dying batteries or bad canbus connector. Both topics are well covered on the forum.

Check to see which version you're running now. If it's new enough, you can download the update onto a USB stick and force the update. If it's too old, you risk "bricking" your system by updating all the way to the latest version. Thanks for the info. It downloaded in 22 minutes and seems to be working fine. No messages over the weekend. Saved me a minimum of $180.00 and maybe much more. The dealer warned me that it might be a head unit issue instead of a download issue. I'm always skeptical of service departments that prewarn of a catastrophic failure.
