uconnect screen black

remote started, then noticed no back up camera and no radio volume, no phone showing up........... after i got home, let it sit for a few and went out and started. No screen at all just black screen. Does not look good!

This just happened to me last night. I drove to have a quick dinner and when I got back in the screen was black. Oddly the radio still worked by using the steering wheel controls. I pressed the hide screen button a few times, but nothing. I'll see what it's like this morning, but is yours fixed and did you have to take it back to the dealer?

Same thing has happened with my 2018 Unlimited Sahara multiple times. The screen goes black and unresponsive. No radio, climate control, etc. Also, I’ve lost the park assist lines from the camera view when in reverse multiple times. All with less than 5,000 miles on my new Jeep. After phone calls to Jeep Cares and a visit to my dealership, they are going to replace the radio/Uconnect unit.

Glad they're going to replace it. The next morning, mine started to work and has been fine every since.

Hmmm very interesting. I just had this happen and similar to what the OP did, it was after a remote start. It eventually appeared to reboot after driving 15m. I wonder if there is some relationship between how a remote start locks out certain features. May ultimately be a software or systems integration glitch. I have also had my guidelines disappear twice and then come back. Hope the replacement works for you Jal125.

I had this happen once on my Rubicon. Came out of the grocery store and the screen was black after start up. The radio still worked, but there was no screen at all. Drove home, let it sit a few hours and checked it again, all was fine.

There is some bug with the uconnect and starting/stopping the Jeep in short periods of time. If I run to the grocery store, come back out a few minutes later and start the Jeep, most times the dispaly comes on but I can't switch between any screens. If I'm on radio display, none of the other toggle buttons work like nav, climate, carplay etc. The radio controls work, but I can't switch my screen display. Now this only happens when the Uconnect does not have time to totally boot down, so if I re-start the Jeep after a brief shutdown the screen comes right up with no boot screen, that's when I have the problems. If I turn the Jeep on at any point and see the boot screen, then I know everything will work fine, but there are times when the boot sceen does not come up, especially like I said after brief shutdown times.

The radio and touchscreen went out for no reason in my 6 month old 2018 Wrangler JL Rubicon. I noticed that the climate control worked but the USB port was out in the console. There was also no backup camera showing. The screen stayed blank and the radio stayed off. To make a long story short, I made sure all the fuses were properly seated and took out the fuse for the radio/TBM and reseated it. Then I stuck my USB port for my phone into the main USB port #1 and voila! The screen came back up! Can’t say if it was because of the fuse or something with USB port #1. Have an appt with the dealer but may cancel it if problem doesn’t re-occur.

Push the middle of the volume and tuning knob in for 10 seconds and it will do a soft reboot. I’ve had to do that to both of our Jeeps.

exact same thing happened to me today in my 2018 Sahara JLU. 2800 miles...ugh. Drove an hour in Louisiana heat with no climate control. Hasn't happened since, but i do have an appointment with service tomorrow morning.

Thank you, FDXGUY!! I inadvertently pushed the "Display Off" button in my 2020 Wrangler JL and then could not get the screen to come back on. I tried pressing the "Display Off" again and tapping the screen, as suggested by the manual, but the screen stayed off. The startup screen would display and the backup camera worked, but after shifting out of reverse the screen would turn off. Pressing the volume and tuner knobs for 10 seconds got it working again. Thanks for saving me a trip in to dealer service!

I didn't realise if you press the power button the screen goes black, at some point somebody pressed it, I tried doing the reboots like FDXGUY said, but just stayed black. So my fix was to just press the power button to turn it on.

I have a 2014 jeep wrangler and my radio screen won’t turn on I have tried checking the fuses but still nothing and suggestions on a few occasions now it has turned back on about 45 min into my drive
