8.4" uconnect screen black unless volume increased from 0

I can't find much on this searching or in the manual. I have to turn my volume knob above 0 in order for the 8.4" uconnect screen to come on at all. It's all black with volume turned all the way down. Why is that?

Do you have the screen turned off? The button is on the dash below the tunning knob.

Duh! Can't believe I didn't see that!. I wish there were brighter lights in the dome light so I could see better....
