A Jeep I saw yesterday had turn signals that alternated between the white DRL and the amber blinker. I thought it was kinda neat. How does one do this? Thank you.

If you have an Rubicon, you can replace with OEM Led unit, however on Sports its wired differently and the light assembly is different size.

I installed an aftermarket LED turn signal assembly on my Sport but it still doesn't have the white DRL strip until I turn my parking lights on. I will eventually run an extra wire to power on the DRL on my aftermarket units but it still wont be a switchback like the factory light on Rubicons

If you have a Sport consider the switchback bulbs from Diode Dynamics and others. They give an LED white light when on and switch to amber on the turn signal activation. Will need to use a programmer to change the light setting if you have halogen loghts.

I could be mistaken, but I think the OP was asking about the factory LED equipped JL's that have the White DRL strip, but when you activate the Turn Signal, it shuts off that sides White DRL and flashes with only the Amber Turn Signal.

If I understood the ask correctly, it would be that when turning on the Turn Signal, it would effectively perform like the switchbacks do, alternating between the White DRL and Amber Turn Signal.

Is this something that can be coded, using something like a Tazer Mini or has anyone done this already?

-Thanks

That is exactly what I am asking. It looked pretty neat with doing that.

Outside of having the LED package I don’t think it will work. I have the rubi fenders in my sport and had to program them with JScan. You have to configure it to optional DRL with the dropout enabled. This allows the amber to cancel out the white light while your lights are off. If you have the lights on at night or whenever the amber will flash but the white also stays on. In essence you have your left and right white dedicated as your DRL.

I have the LED package already. I know with the LED package the DRL cuts off when the blinker is on, except at night. But this particular Jeep's blinkers alternated between the white DRL and the Amber turn signal. It was during the day.

Oh ok now I see. Not sure how that would work. If I get some time I can play around with JScan and see if I can get it to work like that. Maybe the white isn’t dedicated would be my thought. Pretty interesting to be honest.

Yeah it’s the first Jeep I have seen do it. Even the wife thought it looked awesome.

Got this dual brightness 3157 LED bulbs from Auxito for my 2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ. Much brighter than the OEM halogen bulbs. They went right into the OEM slot and are way better. They made this 14 year old Jeep look young again.
