Not a huge fan of the front bumper, it does look functional so that's something. For whatever reason whenever I see those front bumpers with the angular corners it makes me think of the Wario... Blocky, Chunky and Annoyingly Obnoxious.

From the front the tires look like 35s or 37s, from the side they look small. Looks like you have a lift? Not a super showy Wrangler, which is fine, nothing wrong with staying under the radar... We can't all be weirdos like me!

The OneTouch top is a nice touch. While I would never get one, the people I know who have them seem to love them, I do worry about how long it'll last and how much it will cost when the motor finally goes. There's a reason I opted for mechanical locks and windows, and it was a cost savings thing for sure.

Ooh I like your rock rail steps. They look both functional as rock rails and functional as steps. Which I can tell you from experience is not an easy thing to find. You usually either get one or the other. 😍

1200 lb Apex Badlands winch. Great choice!! Ain't nothing quite like either the Travelers or the Badlands brands. It's a quality winch, without all the retarded prices of the bigger brand names.

Overall I'd give you a 3/5! If you want to move up on the totem pole, you going to have to add a little more cosmetic flair. Just don't overdo it. The front end has plenty of color to it, maybe a nice red sticker or two closer to the back end and maybe on the sides.

You definitely need to work on your glutes and do some more squats. I mean if looking like a prepubescent boy is your thing, keep going the way you're going!

I'm not saying your pants are too baggy, but they're way too baggy for everyday work. You're going to want more of a tapered leg with a boot cuff at the bottom. How else are you supposed to fit your those pants over your boots and not look like I wannabe. Also get rid of the boat shoes! This isn't Martha's Vineyard, it's the Wild West!

The belt is fine I guess, it's not great, but it's not terrible. It works. Width-wise it's decent, minimal, but decent.

The shirt has to go! You're already rocking the underwhelming scrawny dad bod, You don't need the underdressed button down to boot! If you're going to work, get you a khaki cowboy cut long sleeve shirt, and look like you care about yourself at least a little bit. Going out a night on the town, I've always been a fan of the ivory cowboy cut long sleeve. Do yourself a favor, start dressing like the man your wife wants to be with, and stop dressing like the man your wife wants to leave!!

Overall rating -12

Greg, that was surprisingly fair!🤣 Pretty much my same thoughts as well. It ain’t pretty, but it is functional - like me!

I always prioritize functionality and cost savings. The front bumper was around $500, IIRC. The rock rails were about a hundred less. Those steps saved the paint while off-road during last month’s trip to AZ; I heard gravel pinging off of them constantly. I still plan on replacing the craptastic plastic rear bumper as well. In the meantime, I have a hitch-mounted Skid Mark. There’s also a very good yet very inexpensive spare tire mount/tailgate reinforcement on the back.

The tires are 35x12.50s on the stock 7.5”-wide rims. I’m leaning strongly toward 37x12.50s in the near future; I think I can get away without a re-gear up to that size (2.0T 8spd). And yes, it’s lifted - 2.5”.

I‘ve been quite impressed with the Badland winches; this is my second (the previous one was a 12K ZXR). I’ve used the heck out of both winches. I’ve also replaced the halogen bulbs with LEDs in the heads/fogs. You aren’t gonna see me spending hundreds on new LED fixtures!

And yes, I have a Tazer, and a few other mild inside mods, and a Fox TS stabilizer.

Good way to improve that rating is to add some more horsepower! Get a few more friends, try to make sure they're Clydesdales or Draft horses. Do yourself a favor, stop hanging out with Grade horses! You need to be able to look up to your friends, not look down that long nose of yours at them!

Oh and by the way, to follow-up, my front bumper looks like a terribly obnoxious French moustache🤣

Has a lot of potential here! I mean the weather alone has done most of the stripping of the vehicle that I would have had to have done myself. So from that perspective, you got a really nice base going for you. I'm not so sure about the rust levels, if it's surface rust it's not a big deal, but if that body has been eaten away by time, you're going to have a lot of work on your hands if you want to keep that same shell. You might be better off just getting rid of the shell assuming the frame is still good, and build you a nice little rat rod!

Overall rating: 2/5.

If you got a working engine in there, I could up that too a 3/5! ;) :like:

Rather than critiquing your awesome Subaru build, because it's not really as capable as a Wrangler so it's not going to be a similar comparison. I'm just going to throw out some ideas I'm thinking of looking at these photos.

The front end looks great! The aftermarket sport grill, it's semi-gloss black? Just to throw some extra flare on there, if you vinyl wrapped the hood to be semi-gloss black to match the front grill, it would give it a much more sporty and aggressive look without doing anything too largely impactful on the overall build. Plus cost-wise if you did it yourself would be pretty inexpensive.

The engine bay looks good, a little bit of color to make it pop in there seems to have already been done with those cross braces. Adds a nice Chevy Orange-Red to the look.

Outside of an aftermarket front bumper, a winch, some skids, a decent lift, and some off-road worthy tires, there's really not that much you can do for a Subaru to make it much more soft-road worthy than it already is from the factory.

That being said you seem to have the big four already covered, from here on out it's just cosmetic trying to make it look less fat than the Subaru Forester naturally is. You got that bronze factory paint, and the black and gold on the grill, maybe just tie in more black and gold on the rear. Little bit of color all around we'll go a long way for making it look sleeker and I'll just a little bit sexier.

Overall rating: 4/6

Slightly better than a three, but still not quite a four out of five.
