Tread lightly has been affiliate for years and will probably be an affiliate for years to come.

Once you join your membership is good for a year then you have to renew. So join at least 30 days before you buy but less than a year.

Tread Lightly only gets you 1% below invoice but if you use the dealers identified on this site you can get 5%-6% below invoice.

That is a good price. There is never factory support on Wranglers. I don't expect that to change. Its not like a truck where if you are patient you can get 20% below MSRP.
I really appreciate it!
Since English is my second language, it's very hard to understand detail. Now I finally got it!

How much time does it take Tread Lightly to generate a Control Number? I have a current membership. I know that the Control Number is only valid for two months. I have been impatiently waiting for Mojito to be released. I don't want to generate a CN and then have it lapse because Jeep is taking their time.

@TIDALWAVE

Tread Lightly is not the one that generates the "Control Number", the Affiliate Rewards Program Headquarters does!

Just now, after reading this post, I called Affiliate Rewards Program Headquarters and the rep said there is no such thing as a month or two month etc., time limit in regard to using the "Control Number". Rep told me it was good for one year.

Affiliate Rewards Program Headquarters: 1-888-444-4321

Also, it takes them a minute or two of asking questions and then you are given the control number by them and they send an email to you immediately.

Brad41's post #92 shows "A $75 administration fee has been added to the price" I dont know how FCA works but with Ford X-plan that is the ONLY fee the dealer can charge. Zero bs doc fees or other junk. Is this how it works? That would make it more desirable and easier shopping,for sure.

I don't know if there was a $75 administration fee added, but i do know that my JLUR cost me $42,020 before TTL. The MSRP was $47,865. Without the tread lightly discount, I would have paid about $1,000 more. Totally worth it.

@digitalbliss

While I used the Tread Lightly discount too, and saved money, NO WAY did I or you save a thousand dollars!

Suggest you look over your paperwork.

The Tread Lightly discount is $500 discount.... but remember, you pay $100 for the membership and then there is a transaction fee at time of use. For me my actual $ savings on purchase of vvehicle was somewhere around $320+-.

Well Mr Know-it-all, when I ordered I was quoted 5% below invoice and when I mentioned I had an affiliate rewards control number it ended up being 7% below. You can do the math (the invoice was $45,251)... The tread lightly membership did cost me $100. And in the end, the only "fees" the dealer charged was their normal $130 fee.

Well, "Mr. Know-it-all" just wants everyone reading this thread know that the Tread Lightly discount is a $500 discount and absolutely no more!

This thread is entitled "TREAD LIGHTLY DISCOUNT".

No, actually the tread lightly discount is a gurantee of 1% below invoice. There is no acutal dollar figure assigned to it.

Secondly, the dealer is paid back 2%. So.... If a dealer wants to, they can deduct that from the sales price.

It's ok to be wrong every now and then

Just trying to let those interested in Tread Lightly know that most guy's/gals save about $500+-. They should not get the idea that they will save lots lets say, thousands..

I encourage readers of this thread to research Tread Lightly. Read all the forum posts regarding Tread Lightly.

Yes, Tread Lightly membership will save you a few $ and the cause is a good one.

I gotcha, but if you call Kim at Superior in Conway, Arkansas, you will end up with a deal like mine!

Well in "theory" it could actually save you thousands. For example in SoCal if you didn't know much and walked into several of the dealers here they will charge you MSRP right now for a new JL. Then if you pop in the TL conversation AND the dealer honors TL then your negotiation just dropped all the way down to 1% below invoice.

All in all I think everyone should join TL if you use the control number or not. It is a very good cause and unlike many they aren't paying some CEO millions, it truly is helping out all us off roaders.

@Goin2drt

Yes, in the scenario you mention Tread Lightly may be the tool needed to get the below invoice price and you could save lots more then $500 for sure.

As for me, I got the dealer to commit to the % below invoice I wanted and then a month later while waiting for the JL, dropped the Tread Lightly discount on them. They said ok...

Worked to my advantage as I pried another $320+ out of the dealer. Would have backfired on me had the dealer said no, we will not honor the Tread Lightly.... which they could have said. Anyway, I did aok in regard to the purchase price of my JL.

YES, I too encourage people to join Tread Lightly.

I was just quoted a price for a loaded Sahara without Tread Lightly and and with the discount. The dealership was only only giving 1% below the invoice price which came out to about $3300 in savings but there are about $800 in fees. This car is not cheap by any means. I am waiting to here from a friend about getting an employee discount.
