Transfer case identification?

Ik I have a transfer case low kit but I believe transfer case is stock I really have no idea I can’t find anything, model - 231 J, assemble number - 5209 7522, serial number- 8 9 91 1, ratio was 272 or might still be but my low range is 4:1

You’ll likely have better luck getting an answer on the Jeep forum XJ section. This forum is for JL’s and I suspect some of our ilks don’t even know what an XJ is?

High range will be 1:1. If you opened it up and swapped low range to 4:1, then low range is no longer 2.72:1.

High range will be 1:1. If you opened it up and swapped low range to 4:1, then low range is no longer 2.72:1.

I didn’t open it up I bought it with a Tera low 4:1 case so that’s only reason I’m confused

The Tera Low 231 replaces the low range planetaries. You can only have one low range (well at least in this case).

Tera Lows sound like a tractor and could explode at any time. I usually keep it under 10mph. I am waiting for mine to go in my TJ. Haven't gotten around to installing a 241.
