What is the difference between the transfer cases on Auto vs 6MT models for the JLU lineup?

On older Jeeps I recall the difference just being the input shaft length, which was a straightforward swap to be able to utilize a t-case designed for an Auto in a Manual and vice versa

Asking b/c it may be interesting to swap in a Rock-Trac Full-Time t-case into my 6MT instead of the Part-Time one which is the sole OEM offering for 6MT transmissions as far as I am aware

Input shaft spline count is different. That’s it.

If you want to put the 4:1 in your Jeep, it’ll need to come from a manual Jeep.

Gotcha, no ability to swap input shafts during a rebuild like the old days (TJ)?

I'm sure there is, but it wouldn't be worth the labor or time to do so if you can just source the right one to begin with.

Guess it depends on your motivation? Is it the 4:1 or the Full Time that has you thinking this way?

Originally the 4:1, but then I became curious to understand what was preventing me from getting Full Time in a manual as well

My manual non rubi t-case won’t have a tremendous resale value, so I’m comfortable cannibalizing it if it’s possible to rebuild a Full Time case reusing its input shaft. My understanding is a Full Time Rock-Trac does exist, so you could technically have both..

Something to think about. My full time Rubi also has CV front axles. Not saying it's necessary, but there has to be a reason Jeep puts cvs in the full time equipped vehicle instead of UV axles.

There is also programming involved somehow. The full time transfer case has a clutch in it, and the ECU controls that clutch. Is it a simple JScan setting to tell the CU there is an auto t case there? No idea.

But., I don't see why the input shaft can't be swapped if you have a donor.
