I've got new tires and wheels coming for my 2018 JLUR. I've already used my TPMS tool and copied the sensor ID's to the new sensors. I'm thinking about potentially keeping my stock wheels and tires for use during outings where I'm fairly confident that they're gonna get hammered. Considering that the new TPMS ID numbers are the same as the existing sensors, will the TPMS system work with either set of tires installed without any sort of re-programming? I'm inclined to think "yes", but I've not had any luck finding a definitive answer.

Yes should work no problem as long as only one set is on and near the Jeep at the same time. Also remember you need to swap out the spare. If you got a flat and had to put that into rotation then you would have two tires with the same protocol and your system won't work.

I should have elaborated. I assumed you knew a thing or two about TPMS since you have a tool. You can only "copy" or "clone" a sensor if the one you are trying to copy TO is a programmable sensor. If you are trying to copy the ID from one OEM sensor to another OEM sensor you cannot and you do not need to. the Jeep will learn the new one no problem. Hope that makes sense.

Nope. Fully understand. Used the NAPA “Qwik Sensors” and they worked perfectly on all 5 wheels. Surprisingly, my gauge and my Jeep both read the same pressure now. I had about a 2 psi differential with the OE sensors. Have no idea why, but I’m not at all concerned anyway other than curiosity.
