I have aftermarket Fuel Mavericks with Toyo Open Country MT 35x12.5x17 on my 2018 JLU Rubicon.

I must admit I bought the lower priced aftermarket TPMS with the new wheels, I did not buy the Mopar ones, huge price difference.

Next, I will also admit I do not air down for the beach and run it at 35psi and have never had a problem whether in my 2018 Raptor or my Jeep. I really want to air down, but it takes forever with these larger tires.

I like the Raptor much better for the Beach, but my son begged me to sell it to him and so far he has made two months of payments, I gave him 0% financing for 84 months and sold it to him for trade in value.

Back on topic.....

The only problem is that any time I am on the beach or immediately after I get off the beach my Jeep TPMS goes crazy, I will get a solid red line on anywhere from 2-3 of the sensors, then I drive for a bit and they start working normally again.

This never happens on the Raptor?

Has anyone else experienced this on their Jeeps with stock or aftermarket TPMS?

Buy an ARB EZ deflator. It allows you to air down quickly by pulling the valve core.

Re: the TPMS sensors, I’m not sure about that. I’m running some cheap ones from eBay and I’ve yet to have a problem.

Sounds like the sand has a bunch of metal in it. Are you driving on Lake Erie beaches?

Full psi and aired down on beach never had anything like that with TPMS.

So you could afford a Rubicon and Corvette, but figure to get chinese knock offs instead of Mopar parts?

I would put Mopar TPMS on, issue should be gone then. I've never had that issue and have done beach driving with my JLU(and JKU before that.) Obviously, if the issue still occurs I would have a dealer check it out even though it's relatively minor.

Have you priced the mopar ones?

They are insanely expensive and I don’t know of anyone that actually uses them besides dealers. There are great aftermarket ones available

Of course I have. Haven't met a shop locally that doesn't use the Mopar ones personally. There's no reason to buy a 45k+ vehicle and cheap out on something like this that's not much $$$ in the grand scheme.

I have never heard of a problem with the aftermarket TPMS, I will have to check out the ARB.
Thanks

Strange, doesn't happen with the Raptor either?

There is an old saying, "the cheap comes out expensive"
I did a lot of research and never saw this problem.
Not to say this wouldn't happen with the Mopar sensors, but at least I would just take it to the dealer with no hesitation if it did.

I think it was a $300 difference, at the time my son was going to buy the Jeep and he did not want to pay the price difference, in retro I should probably have footed the difference for him, not sure it would have made a difference, but would have ruled out the question in my mind.

I guess its location dependent. I don’t even think discount tires uses mopar. They are mopar branded buy another company that is a little cheaper. $300 is a substantial amount of money to some. That’s the cost of a nice wheel or tire. I’d rather buy 6 sets of the $50 ones and save my customer the money and swap out a couple that are bad than spend charge that. To each their own. I pull the one from the factory wheels when possible

I've had issues, with aftermarket. I Then swapped the originals back, and no issues since. I dont know what "reliable" aftermarkets are out there.

I was going to buy the mopar ones. Then I found out they were $125.00 each. Just over $650.00 after tax. Amazon was $550.00 less.

Well, it won't be a problem any more.

My son gave me back the Raptor and we traded in the Jeep for a Ram Rebel.

I needed the Raptor for my German Shepherd, she is much more comfortable in the truck and he needed a truck for work.

Oh well, I am sure we will have another Jeep soon,
