Door lock caps are not just "cosmetic".

For 55+ years I used black electrical tape to cover door locks... but no more of that thanks to qualty, tight fitting door lock caps.

For those that live in locales where freezing rain, snow/ice occurs, door lock caps can help prevent frozen door locks. Some people use black elec tape over the door locks in the Winter.... for sure a custom door lock cap is a far better way..

Also, those that live beachside... have a beachside residence use door lock caps to keep sand and salt mist out of the door locks.

For those that off road, drive their vehicle on Farm pastures, mud and more, lock caps keep cow chit, mud and stuff out of the locks.

Yup, door lock caps are more then "cosmetic".

Cosmetic is why I use them. I can’t tell you the last time I actually used a manual key to open and/or start a vehicle. Proximity entry and remote start is pretty standard now a days. Makes sense in preventing freezing up the door lock, though.
