THIS IS ABOUT SNOW! GET OUTTA HERE!Off topic, but maybe you Colorado folks can chime in - My wife and I both are recently retired and are wanting to move to Colorado to be closer to family (in Denver and Ft Collins). We currently live in a rural area of Kansas and really like the area between Lyons and Estes Park. It seems like more houses are popping up on the market and prices are coming down a little.
Our criteria for an ideal location is somewhat rural (We've looked at some homes around Pinewood Springs) but yet close (maybe 30 minute - 1 hour driving distance) to services like health care services, big box stores, family and of course, good Jeep trails). Good internet and cell coverage is desired also. Price of homes and cost of living is a consideration. also. We are RMNP junkies too - would love to possibly volunteer there.
Any of you Colorado folks want to chime in with some areas tat you have experience with, or might know of, that would be a good fit for us?

What? He didn't ask about any of the areas you listed except Estes, to which you had no information. Parker and GJ aren't even close to where he asked about. And Denver is more than what you stated about the needles.THIS IS ABOUT SNOW! GET OUTTA HERE!
I kid.
Check out Parker, I think it's a beautiful area and might be just what you're looking for. I'd live in Parker.
Stay away from Denver or you'll get AIDS from one of the thousands of needles just laying around in city parks where children play. Or, if you have kids and they like watching people shoot up, go to a park and just watch. I hate what Denver has become, I avoid it like the plague.
I love Estes Park, it's one of my favorite towns in CO. I'd live just outside if there if I had money.
Grand Junction is really nice, I've been through there twice on the way out to Moab. It's also a lot closer to awesome Jeep trails... MOAB!!! You'd be able to see family more often in Grand Junction than in Kansas, but, it's still 4 hours from FoCo and 5 from Denver.
There are so many awesome places to live in Colorado. I wish I could tell you I know the perfect spot but I think any of the mountain towns you'd love. If you're ever out and want a couple people to go wheeling with, shoot me a message!
