I use a cable pull type and it does the job just fine. However, I’ve never used any other kind. A touch of tire lube probably makes it quick work for any tool.

…………………. I imagine with the round or the flat bar you just shove a little rag up against the wheel so you don’t scratch it up.

I think the OP is referring to the actual valve stem, not just the valve core. I could be wrong though.
That’s what I understood. That tool has a female threaded end to screw onto the valve stem in place of the cap and you can use it to pull a new stem through the wheel. Done it many times.

Don’t forget - None of the above will be of any use without a tiny Torx bit to remove the TPMS sensor from the valve stem that you’re trying to replace.

Ok, that looks like it would hurt your fingers, lol. I didn’t know those could pull the full stem.

16 years old. Works perfect. Use a rag or something on the wheel.

Thank you for your reply and picture of your valve tool…….. I have zero experience of pulling the valve stem through a wheel and I am quite certain it will be simple. ( five bead lock wheels to do, two valvestems each, five sensors, five regular stems with no sensors ) Can you in your experience see if this flat tool Would be of any benefit versus the round? Thank you.

You're welcome.

I'd buy the flat one. More surface area touching the wheel can only help spread any load out.

Being non-marring is nice, too.
