Hello All,

Any suggestions on off road tires that are also good on pavement? I guess not as loud on the road. Also, not super heavy.

I don’t do any heavy off roading. Light trails and fire roads. I would like to get to my long distance camp sights with some quiet(er) tires, but still good off road.

Thank you.

Terrific tire, light for size, 3 peak, Toyo AT3 . The lightest 3 peak found in 35/12.50 at 59 lbs. very pleased with them. Chosen over MT BB because they were ~10 lbs heavier. (KO2 ~5 lbs)
I’ve noticed a lot of praise for the Toyo. Thank you.

Another vote for Toyo AT3. I have 10k on mine. Smooth and quiet on road and do well on trails and rocks (I've only tried easy to medium so far).

I kind of like the BF Goodrich KO2 all terrain tires. Had them on my 1997 TJ, 2012 JK in 315/70 load range E and 2022 JL in 315/70 load range C. I personally don’t think they are noisy and offer ample off road traction for the mild off roading I do. I hated the BFG Mud Terrains that were on my 2021 Willys and since I bought it to use as a winter vehicle primarily on street, I swapped them for 255/75 Michelin Defenders; quieter and better handling. A friend that off roads his 2018 JL with us runs the same tire in 295/70 loader range E size and they work well.

Swapped from 255/80R17 Falken AT3W's to 34x10.50 Toyo AT3 and couldn't be happier. They stick to everything and ride better.

-You can save weight by going with a "pizza cutter". There are multiple threads. It is what I did. These fit nicely inside the fenders. 35X10.5 Kenda Klevers

They are great Offroad. They got me up "The Wall" on Poughkeepsie Gulch when I had the correct line:

Seems you want offroad tires, but you say you don't do heavy off-roading. I went with the RT's (rough terrain) instead of the MT's (mud) or AT's (all terrain).

There will be a compromise no matter what you choose. You just need to figure out what is the MOST important to you.

-I do NOT care about road noise...it's a JP

-I wanted them to do well in MOST offroad situations. I HATE mud so no MT's for me

-I wanted them to be respectable in snow...did not want/need 3-peak snow tires. I live in NW Iowa and get a bit of snow and ice. I am still happy with these.

-Wanted good sidewalls :) I have sliced one before.

That depends. What size tire are you looking for?

I do like the pizza cutters. They seem to drive a little better than the wide tires.
