I just bought a new 2024 4 door Wrangler Sport base 6mt. It has the factory stock steel 17.5" rims and 245/75 17 tires.

What is the biggest tire I can go without any mods?(No rubbing, even when off roading or with steering wheel locked)

I did some research and saw the biggest I can go are 275/70 17 with the stock 17.5" rims and no mods.

Is this correct?

never heard of 17.5 - you have 17" rims - you can fit 285/70/17 tires with no lift. but suggest at least rubicon take off springs and shocks to give you about an inch lift. its all bolt on. just find Rubicon take off wheels and tires, springs and shocks

Good advice already provided above. I'll confirm since I'm running takeoff Rubicon suspension (with leveling spacers - 2" lift overall) and tires. Only a slight hit to mpgs. However, I also added mopar lift LCAs to firm up the steering.

I'm very happy with the results and running it for a few years now.

Jeep Wrangler JL Tire size question for base Wrangler scenic

285/70/17 BFG KO2's on Rocktrix RT117's with a -12 mm offset. In essence, that's a 33 inch tire. There is no rub while turning, nor off road. No hit to MPG. Still see all the gears on the highway. Honestly, this was a very nice upgrade for our JLU.

Same here on the tire size without any issue.

That tire size, 285/70/17 is on the same rim size as my stock 17" rims?
Just confirming if it'll be fine on my factory steel 17" rims before I purchase.

Confused, I thought you said you had 245's on OEM wheels. If you're asking if 285's will work on OEM wheels. I am not 100% on that, but in theory, yes. As most folks who move up to a 33 on a stock lift Jeep use OEM 17 inch wheels.

Yeah I have 245/75 17 on 17" stock wheels, was asking if your tire size would work on the 17" stock wheels.

Did you need to recalibrate the speedometer after going up in tire size?

The wheels I have are the same size as OEM Jeep wheels. Offset is different (my tires poke out slightly more than stock @ -12mm). No recalibration, no regear. Just installed the tires on the new wheels and have been running it, daily driver, trails, and beach. I believe if you go up to a 295 or larger tire, you start getting into that area of making additional adjustments for shift points and the likes.

You can google calculators that show the difference. Going from a 245/75/17 to 285/70/17 throws off the speedo by around 2mph at 75mph. Need, probably not. Want, that's your choice. I've been riding around without changing the speedo for 2 years. The transmission doesn't "hunt" more with that slight change.

I didn’t recalibrate anything. The speedo being off 1-2mph at top end speed isn’t something I’m concerned about
