I recently went from a 2013 JKU to a 2021 Rubicon XR with 315/70R17C AT tires and 22,000 miles. I'm getting ready to rotate tires and noticed the spare has never been used in the rotation and has full tread. Your thoughts on whether it's too late to start rotating in the mix or not would be appreciated.

Great question. I am watching this post. Does it matter what brand of tire? I have heard some like Nitto have a shorter life span than some others, so does that matter? If tires are getting replaced at 40ish K then is worth rotating it in? Of course then then the spare never gets used. What is the tread difference between spare and the others?

In my opinion if the others have 20k miles on them it’s to late.. but you can always check the depth of the tires vs the spare.. my dealer whom I have good relationship with says if it’s only 1 to 2 off on the 32” chart then they will rotate it in. I would just wait till they need replaced and then start rotating it in.

At 22000 miles i would probably leave it on the spare carrier unless or some miracle the others only have 2/32-3/32's of wear which for a KO2 is not likely after 22000 miles but never know.

Agree too late… my KO2s have just under 22k on them and are ~6/32 tread. That’s too big of a difference to a new tire IMO

My spare is at 15/32" and all my other tires are remarkably all at 11/32". So I feel like most of you that it's a bit late for the spare to join the party. That does make it easier for me however I'm generally a rule follower so there's that, ha-ha. Appreciate everyone's input.
