Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I just got new tires and will want to sell my current tires. I currently have Falken WildPeak AT3 305/65r18. Brand new they are $350 per or more. I have 40,000 miles on them with 5 tire rotation every 5,000 miles. The tread ware is minimum….Probably a good 50-70% tread left. What would be a good asking price for all 5?

40k seems unlikely to be 70% tread left but probably varies greatly price wise from market to market. Here maybe $400 for all 5.

Not sure if it’s because it’s an E rated tire, but they will not wear out.

New tire is 16/32” tread depth and mine are at 12/32” tread depth. Math says that’s not even 50% tread wear.

A few things to consider: 1. Percentage of tread isn’t measured against a slick or zero tread so your math is off. 2. Tires will not only wear out but time out as they dry out and lose flexibility. I wouldn’t sell them if over a few years old.

Just measured the tread of the new tire vs the old. New is at 5/8” tread depth and old is at 3/8” tread depth. Math says that’s not even 50% tread wear. And they are both Falken Wildpeak AT3.
I’ve never seen a tire get over 100k but to each their own lol.

I think they’d fetch 400 for all 5 here my $0.02

Edited my post above…New is 16/32” and mine are 12/32”, but hey….I guess I must be wrong.

So I should throw these out because they have timed out? Guess I need to do more burnouts so I can get new tires every few years.

Guys, I didn’t put this out to debate my integrity, tread depth or tire time outs…Just asked what I should ask for them. Thanks for all the great input though.

I'd agree that between $300-$400 seems about right. I hope you weren't anything close to what a new tire is. I c an't imagine you would have luck finding anyone who would be willing to pay more than $500 for a set of tires with 40k on them regardless of how much tread is left.

Nope…Was thinking $3-$4 for all 5. Figured someone could get another 40K over the next 3 years for that price. Especially with no damage.

I think 80k is possible I think when you said upwards of 70% left that threw me. No one is trying to get on your case just giving you our experience.

Sounds like your $ number was about where we all were thinking too. Good luck !

If you read the posts above carefully, you will notice people keep repeatedly telling you $400-$500 for all five.

When you go to sell them, you should post pix of the date codes molded into the sidewalls as well as your measured tread depth. Each tire could be different by quite a bit. This would give the educated buyer what he needs to make the decision and show that you're sharing all the available information.

Check OfferUp and Craigslist and Jeep forums to see what those exact sized tires are going for in your area. The problem with used tires is that people automatically have an expectation/bias as to what they think they are worth - the minute they hear the word used. Hence, most are looking for atleast 60-70% off of retail. Also, most cars don’t even get 40k out of their tires so a lot of folks won’t be able to imagine that there’s that much tread left on your tires. Educated buyers who have gone through several tires will know that many will dry rot way before they ever wear out, so you have that to contend with too. Anyway, I’d list them for $500 OBO and go from there. Then I’d drop the price after a week or so of no bites. Best of luck on your sale.
