Had new wheels and tires installed today and they used new TPMS sensors. They wont pair up so I’m wondering if theres anything else I can try before heading back to the tire store. Over the phone they claim the sensors are running on 433mhz based on their in-house instructions.

So far Ive tried:
45 minute drive home on the highway.
Filled them to 38psi based on the door sticker.
Put the spare in the garage and dropped the 4 tires to 25psi. Went for a 5 mile drive. Refilled back to 38 and went for a 30 minute highway drive.

I have JScan if theres something in there I can try.

Not that I totally believe everything the salesman says, but when I was at Discount Tire contemplating upsizing from 33s to 35s I asked how they handle the TPMS.

They said they remove and reuse the same sensors. And it might be a couple of days before they are all recognized. That didn't make sense to me. Why a couple of days???

Anyways... no clue on brand new sensors. Would think something would need to be done to initially sync them. I'd be back at the tire shop tomorrow.

Whats kind if irking me is I have the oem wheels, tires and sensors. They had the new ones all mounted and balanced before I got there to speed things up when they could of just used my factor sensors. Now if the new ones dont work they want to order new ones from the dealership instead of just using the originals that we know work.

Discount tire also.

Supposedly, the new CDJ stuff will reprogram itself inside of 200 miles. Thats what DT salesmen in Texas told me. I dont care enough to care..... Cars worked well for over 100 years with no TPMS

I’d be willing to bet you are indeed correct. Mines a 9-21 build so they probably have the old version in there. Back to the tire store we go.
Yep, yours is after the June date. I hope that this helps…

My build sheet says Continental. Based on everything I just read, that could mean the newest Schrader or the VDO conti’s. What a mess.

Im going to just ask them to take my old ones out and put them in the new tires even though they dont want to.

If your build sheet says “Continental Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor”, you need the VDO Continentals, neither of the Schraders (29093 and 29057 (if memory serves)) will ever work. The Jeep’s programming won’t recognize the Schraders, despite the same frequency. I had tried both Schrader versions on my 2021 JLUR - to no avail - before the VDO Continentals became known.

Gotta say, Im not real happy with Discount Tire at the moment. I took my oem wheels with the oem sensor to them and asked them to just swap them out. They refused and want new sensors. Except they keep wanting to replace with the schrader sensors. They are not listening when I tell them I need the VDO’s. He was adamant that they are compatible.

Im currently sitting in belle tire while they swap out the new sensors with my oem’s.

One thing I cannot stand is when places refuse to listen to the customer, especially when I show them my build sheet and explain in detail why things arent working.

Edit: sensors swapped and working within the first mile. Confirmed they are continental vdo’s and discount used not only schraders but the ones for before June 2021. Thanks for costing me $140 to have them swapped discount.
