So I'm tired of getting crap quality work done on my Jeep. I asked around and several people recommended a shop that's about an hour away.

I take it in to get the rear plastic bumper upgraded to a steel bumper and the suspension looked at.
I get it back and it looks like this. I think it looks like Walmart at best.

Am I being overly critical here? Thoughts?

Where the hell is your camera cover? The bumper itself looks good, but they obviously weren’t going to trouble themselves to make it pretty.

Id definitely get a LP relocation bracket and put the LP on the spare. Maybe a Ring style 3rd brake light to go behind the wheel and get rid of the Giraffes neck.

Im sure you would have a paid a little more to have this done and be proud of it. That sucks man.

Bumper looks nice though. Check the bolts and make sure they’re tight.

No you are not being over critical.
And what @Mudduck mentioned about the inner wheel light would be a great alternative. I have never been a fan of those but that will definitely be better than the snorkel like 3rd break light mount they put on. Other than that, love the aux lights embedded within the bumper :jk:

While the shop could have done a better job on the install, it looks like the bumper isn't very good quality either. Can't put lipstick on a pig, they say.
Who makes it?
A lot of the ones where the spare is separate from the tail gate, turn into sagging messes after a while as well.

Honestly it looks terrible. I see you're in Washington State, not sure how close you are to Seattle, but I see Seattle has two 4 Wheel Parts locations. I've never used them myself, but I understand they do good work. I'm not sure if they're expensive on labor, honestly anything over a dollar is too much if you ask me; I install all my own parts. It's honestly the best way to guarantee you have good work done. I see you're living in an apartment based on your photos, I know it may seem tough to do so but I did plenty of mods on my JLU when I first got it in the apartment I was in. It's definitely doable, if you're not keen on doing your work yourself I would look for a brand like 4WP's. Or if not a major brand, look for a local shop who specializes in either off-road vehicles or specifically Jeeps. Always always always check out their work before you schedule an appointment. Reviews on Google are your best friend sometimes, also ask to walk around their shop and see some of their work. If they do good work they'll have pictures of it. I have like a bajillion photos of the projects I've done on my Jeep.

Lol, hey guy, I buy a lot of good parts at AliExpress! ?

They're actually are a lot of good opportunities there if you're making stuff from scratch or buying things which are being made in China and sold by companies over here. There's a lot of Jeep parts which are being made in China and sold by companies like extreme terrain for an upcharge.

Holly shiznit…. Id take this back and get my sheckles refunded. Hope it wasn’t near this cost.

If I still lived in WA I would probably not go anywhere else but Northridge 4x4. The shop you went to could have done a better job on the install and that bumper company could've done a better job with the design.

I think your 3rd brake light thing is on backwards. I have a similar one with my bumper and tire carrier but the gap/ opening is supposed to face the rear of the Jeep, not the spare tire.

Bingo. Part of the reason I try to avoid companies like Extreme Terrain, Rugged Ridge, and Smittybilt.

Or they're a total pain in the ass to adjust so they don't sag. Source: it took me 2 seasons to properly adjust my swing out tire carrier so it didn't sag and/ or rattle.

Is it the camera angle, or is it already sagging?
What Scott said about the 3rd brake light on backwards.

While you may be looking at it a little over critical, there is definitely some sloppy work there. Some of it may be limited to the hardware that came with the bumper and mounting kit. I'm ok with the license plate relocation. I don't like them in the spare myself. The third brake light bracket does appear to be backwards. Not too many brackets face so you see the wiring harness and attachments. Also, from the last picture, some bolts use washers and lock washers and some use nothing. And... I'd check that back bolt behind the camera mount shaft. It doesn't look like they tightened it down at all. It's not even compressing the lock washer. Because of that I'd also go and check all bolts for tightness.

What did you pay for all of this? Including "labour"?

Don't think you are being over critical, but this may have been how it came from the manufacturer (no cam cover, etc). Without knowing more, this looks like a low end Chinese made bumper. I would be willing to bet that the bumper mounted swing out will rattle like crazy within a few months. The cheaper swing outs with the single pivot point tend to be extremely problematic (Hence why the higher end carriers are body mounted).

It is put together correctly, it's just bare minimum in design and function in some areas. The picture from the manufacturer shows the camera exposed and brake light holder exposing the plug just without the wires. Easy fix is a brake light, license plate, and camera relocation kit to mount it in front of your spare. Does that spare mount allow for larger tires if you want to go up later?

Without over-stepping. I am sure this allows for a larger tire (35, maybe a 37), but would be very hesitant to put anything too heavy on this. That said, I am OCD and cannot stand a rattle / squeek and have seen several of the bumper mounted carriers sheer off / fail at the pivot point.
