This Guy Thinks Harbor Freight Winch Better Than Warn

When I wanted a winch, I didn't know anything other than Warn had been the standard bearer for decades. Since I didn't know what other brands might be better, I bought a Warn Zeon 10S. The cost wasn't going to change the way I live. Is there some reason my Warn is not up to the task?

Anyone who pays >$1,200 for a tiny electrical motor, 100' of line and a switch is.....well.....it's their money.

I've been using a $500-$600 X20 winch for 5 years and probably nearing 100 pulls. Many total submersions in mud/water. All wirelessly. All flawlessly.

Can't imagine spending more than that, unless I can aim a laser pointer at the a tree and the line magically uncoils and straps itself automatically, pulls me, and stores itself back.

Yes. I bought it after the recall was completed.

That Warn VR was a total letdown. I had been buying nothing but Warn winches up to that point. After that experience, I started looking elsewhere.

Quadratec‘s customer service is excellent, too.

My VR EVO 10S has been open to the elements for the year and half it's been on the rig and has no visible rust or anything. Works great - not sure if the issue affects every one but that's weird. Granted I'm in SoCal but I regularly hit wet and snowy areas and wheel it often.

Same. my Smittybilt gen 3 XRC is fine. Uncovered as well.
