Some of these guys already have bumpers, rockers, lift, wheels, tires, winch ready to when the Rubicon is delivered to the dealer. Like Holy crap. I have that kind of money but I got a family of 4 that needs Dental work, school clothes, xmas gifts, etc etc LOL. LOL. maybe they are retired or are just young kids with a full time job and only them to support. I can't wait till my kids grow up and go to college!! lol J/K.
Nice job on the blog. Thanks for sharing.

Thinking of the 4lo scenario, curious is the clutchless 4lo start still works in the JL
In water crossing if you were ever to stall, you can start a manual in gear while in 4lo without depressing the clutch pedal so you don’t damage the clutch plates
According to the owner's manual it still works the same. Haven't personally confirmed this yet.

The wife’s JKU is manual and played around with it a few times. Definitely feels weird trying to not push the clutch in and feel it start to mace and start while turning the key, be even more so with the push button start lol

Generally, leave it in 2WD until you need it, then engage 4H. If you’re stuck or need to cover really rocky or hilly terrain, 4L.

Basically one of the trails I like to drive on, I do all of it in 2WD - it’s a mix of bumps, slight hills, a little mud and some water. Nothing much to climb over really and no where you could get stuck. If I’m into more rocky terrain, more bumps or deeper mud, I’ll switch to 4H. If I’m going through some seriously whacky looking terrain (big rocks, many rocks, lots of climbing, very deep mud, steep hills, etc) I’ll use 4L. In the few months I’ve been wheeling though, I’ve only needed 4L a couple times to get out of really sketchy spots.

You will be surprised what you can do in 2WD!

One important thing... if you don’t need it and it’s engaged and you try turning, you will experience wheel hop. If you feel this, just shift it back into 2WD as the terrain isn’t soft and/or bumpy enough for 4H. Ask me how I know.
Thanks, for the replies, I am going to keep to the easy stuff for now until i can get a winch and front bumper to mount it on.

Stock JL 2DR w/ Nitto Ridge Grapplers 285/70R17 on 17x9 Mammoth Bolder Wheels.
LSD out back.
Deciding whether to go with Energy Suspensions Rock Flex suspension or TeraFlex 1.5 BB with Falcon shocks. All are around less than $1000 except that the ES Rock Flex does not come with shocks. Also, planning on JKS sway bar disconnects and a Mopar Rubi steel bumper with winch or waiting on TeraFlex's new stubby bumper. Motobuilt's stubby is on my radar as well.

Yeah it is. While I absolutely LOVE my Jeep and think it’s THE perfect blank canvas I wish there was more of us or at least more of us on here willing to post up and spin ideas off of each other.
Exactly! I was looking at a Punkin Rubicon and ended up with a loaded Sport S... My blank canvas... I'm not a rock crawler, I go anywhere I want though. Funny because my friend has an old TJ that's stock and he embarrasses people... if you know how to wheel a stock Wrangler is potent! I Love the Rubicon but not anymore than any Wrangler.. Especially a built not bought one!

Might as well Join the club...

Our Sahara was purchased as a TOAD for our RV at first had no plans to mod however once I got the tires and wheels on I can'r stop...

Added 2" spacer lift, (Les Schwab, what a bargain for $400)
Because we are towing I added Blu OX tow bars, breaking system and Lights, along with a Aluminum Barricade front bumper and Rough Country Winch.

My wife being only 5'2" the stock Sahara running boards just did not cut it and they are very slippery when wet. so I just installed the Go Rhino D-6 Dominator running boards/slider, these also have a removable drop steps so you have easy access as a DD and remove them for clearance when off road. Next to shoes this is my favorite addition, so now my height challenged wife can get in and out with ease.
I went to 35" KO@ tires with 18" XD Monster rims, and like many of you bought the RC spare tire relocation bracket however I did not like the 5" lift so I re-drilled the bracket at 2.25" (lift) and the 35's fit perfectly with still good visibility out the back window. Also note that if you re-drill at 2.5" you do not have to extend the brake light and camera cable and the tire ends up 2" above the bumper step.

Also just installed the Teraflex 2.1 Steering Stablizer, definite improvement in a tighter steering and should help with off road and towing.
I also replaced the Halogen with Megatron LED head lamps (just the bulbs) the stock halogen are pathetic...

It is the Barricade Allow so it is made of Aluminum and weights half of what the Steel bumpers weigh, that was important for us to keep weight down for towing

$499 at Extreme Terrain There is also a all steel version for less$$$ also https://www.extremeterrain.com/barricade-oy-series-aluminum-front-bumper-0717-jk.html

Bumper $500
Winch $420
License Bracket $20
LED Light Bar $50

this is a very affordable mod that really changes the look and function capabilities of the Jeep.

Also note I was able to also reuse the plastic under engine cover to keep it clean (That is my tow Plate that is below the bumper), I also have the flip up license plate holder so when yo need the winch just flip up the license plate. I purchased the Rough Country 9K winch that fit perfectly it also has a neoprene cover that fits like a glove into the recesses of the bumper

Nice ride man!

You know, they say only exceptional intellectuals typically pick the Granite Crystal color.

That's what I've heard anyways.
