So . . . . Seasearyder, what color is LOUD???

G.
Gary, I'm not sure I understand your post because I was asking about loud engines, not colors, but I'll try to split the difference and answer both. I'm too ignorant about engines & exhaust systems to give you a specific example of a loud one. It's just that I'm definitely not into loud-engine vehicles and never have been.

However, I am into loud colors! Using the current choice of 2026 colors for the Willys 392 which there are 12....(I don't think Jeep has ever offered this many colors for one trim level), here are the loud ones:

Firecracker
Goldilocks (cool name!, after a kids fable "...& the 3 Bears")
Hydro
Joose (first thing I thought of was O. J. Simpson, UGH! - glad they didn't spell it 'Juice')
Mojito
Reign (I guess Prince would be proud)
Tuscadero (isn't she a modern day actress ?)

I like ALL of these colors, but would have to eliminate from consideration the non-metallic/pearl colors for my new JL Wrangler. I just like the extra "glow" from metallic paint.

Guess I was just pointing out that this is a color thread, not an engine noise thread.

.....and thus the pinkish, raspberry color. I get it now - clever! And definitely not a modern day actress, but a Happy Day one ;) Thanks for the pic also.

Thanks for your reply ag4ever. I apologize that I'm not mod literate as my 2008 Sahara is still totally stock except for the front & rear bumpers. However, I just read that the Willys 392, which is the one I might be buying, has the "2-mode, dual exhaust system" where the driver can select the loudness of the engine/exhaust and that's what you're talking about and I understand that.

I really appreciate the extra details you gave, but regarding the "...past 50% throttle". If I gradually accelerate past 50%, does the exhaust still bypass the muffler (or) only if I lean on it ?

I'm totally lost on the "2,000 - 1,500 rpm deceleration drone". Could you elaborate in layman's terms what it does exactly, and when, and what determines which 392s have it ?

Thanks again!
“Vacuum Operated” ie, acceleration/under load with low vacuum operated for lack of a better term. Not throttle position per say. .. search, there is at least one extensive thread on the drone issue, that appears to have started about 24, and MDS disable at least reduces, but might not completely eliminate it iirc.

For anyone interested, here's a link that does a real good job in explaining the differences of the 4 types of auto paint we're now buying on our vehicles:

Solid (non-metallic) ; Metallic ; Pearl (Pearlescent) & Matte

It tells the pros & cons of each type.

Enjoy getting educated. 👍

I just looked at a picture of Bikini to refresh my memory of it and there's no doubt that IT'S my favorite Wrangler blue color, hands down. I remember seeing it on the street back when and thought it was great then and I still do. I just read this about the color:

""Introduced originally around 2019–2020 and brought back for the 2024 Wrangler (including Rubicon 392 and 4xe models)""

Until I read that, I was going to predict it would be back in 2027 (like Amp'd, renamed Goldilocks for 2026) however, being brought back just 2 years ago.....I don't know. But I couldn't agree with you more Matt, it definitely needs a reboot.

Thanks Tom for posting, but it looks like Goldilocks needs to shower or wash her hair.....or something.

She's lookin' a little dull.

(heh, heh, color-shaming should do it , now my Goldilocks will stand out more!) 🤞

I jumped into this thread @ page 10 after being directed by Google to learn about the Goldilocks color. Just today I went back to Pg. 1 to ketchup. It was interesting and fun to read y'all's comments. I'm glad there's enough interest in car colors to have a 14 page thread. Your comments covered the entire spectrum of actual colors and opinions. That's exactly the way it should be. Once a person has gone through the sometimes tedious process of evaluating the mechanical details of a vehicle to buy, picking the color should be on the frivolous, fun side of car buying.

I look at it as the icing on the cake. When you eat cake, you taste the icing first to get that initial burst of satisfaction. When you walk out into your garage or a parking lot, the color should also be your first feeling that...."Damn, that's a cool looking ride!". And have the same feeling 7+ years later.

There are still some things about human nature regarding picking colors I'll never understand. Buying a vehicle is a personal thing that you have to live with & like for years. Why then, do people pick a color that they think won't offend a future buyer & be easier to sell, even though they may not like the color? Huh!?, those that do that are living their life for someone else....yuk! Even if you buy & sell your cars every year or two, you're still not getting that 1-2 years of extra visual satisfaction.

I also wonder why some people shy away from bright colors - is it because they think other drivers are looking at them. News Flash !!, calm down - they're not looking at you. Most people's "looks" can't even compare to a great looking car color, so it's the car, not you.

So, until a psychologist chimes in on this thread, I'm okay with remaining in the state of wonderment.

I like a subdued color, usually in a natural tone. I’ve always been that way. I just don’t like flashy/loud colors for my personal vehicle.

Agree with this topic! I have had Jeeps since 2012 and the current color choices are not very good. If I bought today, would likely be Anvil or Granite Crystal.

I have Granite Crystal on my current DD (Ram 1500) and don't know if I would want such a dark color on a Jeep that will get scratched. I have a friend that has Sting Gray which is a great color, no longer available.

I also would consider dark green, but not currently available either.
