There’s a reason I haven’t been to Bridgeport. That’s 9+ hours one way. But the RockCrawler guys do frequent it. Be good to reach out there to the local guys. Good group of guys to wheel with.

Oh man, I didn't notice you were in South Texas. Bridgeport is fun but little so probably not worth the drive for you unless you had another reason to be in the area.

I suggest joining San Antonio Jeep Exclusive. While based out of San Antonio, they have a lot of club runs in the Llano and Austin area. Plus their club runs are split into about 3 groups, easy, hard, and extreme. Plus they have trail guides for each group, like a Jeep Jamboree. While the membership is $30 a year (you get a tshirt), I think it’s worth it. Great group!

I’m not sure if it’s a formal SAJE club event, but there is a run at Still Water Ranch the weekend of December 16th. I believe they’ll have trail guides. I’ve been quite a few times. And always had fun, even though I’ve always done the easy group. I haven’t decided if I’m going then, or maybe the January run.

Well this thing is looking sexy. Reid Knuckles, American Iron BJ deletes, RCVs rebuilt, new MOOG hubs, CavFab diff covers all Steer Smarts steering parts but the rod end on the pitman arm needs to be replaced. Next up is painting and installing my sliders. Front inner fenders. aPEx steering booster. Adams driveshafts. Rear chromo shafts.

There’s one thread on here for the BJ deletes. One guy said they’re noisy so he took them off. I really think they may have been installed incorrectly. I initially had some squeaking. But once we adjusted it the squeak was gone. Handling and steering feel incredibly tighter/ firmer. After a couple of hundred miles, I’m pretty impressed. The steering when I hit a speed bump at speed takes some getting used to…jeep doesn’t go all over the road like with my factory balljoints. The install was a big difficult and questionable but I was able to get ahold of the owner of American Iron and helped us finish the install. I will keep updated on likes/ dislikes.

Yes. It is the factory Rubi front axle. After speaking to RockyMountainJL on instagram, I decided to stay with the factory axle on my progression to 38/ 40s.

ok cool. I put on TeraFlex BJs last weekend and leading up to it, and almost the whole time I had it apart, I was wondering why the designers thought a ball and socket type joint was necessary. It looks like it only needs to rotate on an axis through the center of the pin... I'm just a 'tarded crayon eater though so there's that.

Getting closer to being done and ready to hit the road. I have a few more mods (steering booster, front inner fenders, finish wiring the winch) to do then start packing up. About 6 weeks out from turning this into a California wheeling thread as well. I’d also like to build a sliding cooler mount.


Post front RCVs, Reid Knuckles, BJ deletes, driveshafts, rear chromos, and 38” Falkens wrapped around some Dirty Life Canyon beadlocks. Mounted my PowerTank stuff tonight.
