So I wanted to try a few features on the Tazer that were not in the software revision that my vehicle is currently running (11.3.4). I have married and unmarried, the Tazer successfully several times without issue, but when I try to upgrade the software to the current version, my computer does not see the Tazer. When I plug the USB cable into my computer, the Tazer flashes Green lights every few seconds which makes me think the cable and connection to the computer and taser are good.

I have both a new Apple laptop and an older Dell laptop. I have installed what I'd believe is the correct software on both computers and seem to get the same behavior on both computers. I have tried to find contact information for Z Automotive without success.

I appreciate any suggestions the forum can offer.

Thank you for the link. I tried that a week back and never heard back. Is there a phone number?

I am not sure if I am using the cable that came with the tazer. When plugged into the computer, the green lights on the tazer blink which makes me think it is connected.

Apple/MacOS support for updates has temporarily been suspended. Do not use an Apple laptop for updates.

Try a different cable on your Windows based laptop.

Actually, Joe a ways back made available a new version of the "macOS" utility... You can find it and the PC offering here today 5/10/23.

IF you have both a Mac and a PC... I suggest you use the PC offering.. 8-)

So I have downloaded the PC App on my dell laptop, when I plug the Tazer into the computer, the green lights flash every 15 seconds or so, however, when I try to update, the Tazer is not found. I have tried clicking on the update with the Tazer connected as well as unconnected, and then reconnecting as it describes on the website, but still nothing. I have tried three different USB cables I have, and all of them flash lights, but none of them recognize the Tazer. I have also written to the email address that Rhinebeck provided and have not had a response. I will try to text them later today, but it specifically asked that if you have emailed previously, do not text.

I appreciate everyone's suggestions and will let you know if I get anywhere.

OK, problem solved. And it was what Rhinebeck had suggested earlier. Apparently I was using a power only USB mini-B cable and it was turning the lights on but not transmitting data. My wife had a cable that she used for an old computer, and when I plugged it in the computer dinged and the Tazer software recognized my device. I'm all up-to-date now and ready to try a few of the new features.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Glad you solved it.

For others in the future who might run into this issue and find this thread, and if the USB cable itself isn't their issue like it was for you, one other thing to try is to plug it into a different USB port on the computer. Sometimes the computer forgets what it's supposed to do with a USB device on a particular USB port, and simply unplugging it and plugging it into the next USB port over will "reset" things in the computer and make it start working again.

Figured that. Common mistake grabbing and trying to use a power only cable.

That's why l asked about the cable .

Glad you got things worked out.
