Is the inconsistent tap normal for anyone else? Picked up Saturday so still under 100 miles.

People have found that random tap sound is a broken exhaust bracket. On the up pipe IIRC. If you search around for variations of what I said you'll find some pics.

Thanks. Those were with higher miles, but I need to look at the bracket. It went away…so thinking it’s something else. I did notice from search this is what you’re referring to: Diesel Tap - Alternator/Weld

sounded like the hydraulic lifters. mine will do this on a cold start for few seconds until they are under full pressure. its normal for a diesel and is more common when oil is new due to viscosity. mine has no leaks and does not burn any either for reference.

Ok thanks! I think I’m getting flashbacks from my 3.6 JK where a tap lead to replacing lifters and rockers. Appreciate the feedback.
