Does anybody know what this noise is? Only does it when idling. It’s pretty loud, have to turn the engine off at a drive through or they can’t hear me. As soon as you press on the accelerator the noise stops. Only started recently. Only does it if the engine has warmed up, no noise at startup. I can’t pinpoint the source. 1 month backlog to get it into a dealer to look at. Thanks in advance if you know!

Do you have an aftermarket skid plate under the oil pan?

It's a diesel?

Other thought would be injectors.

In my case, similar noise intermittently when idling. After 1 month in the Jeep shop, found it to be a "cracked cylinder", requiring replacement of the turbo section of the engine (under warranty, luckily). Initially, the service department was very wary about making a diagnosis and even claimed they couldn't hear anything. Luckily, the Service Tech corroborated the symptoms when I was picking up the vehicle.
But now i have another annoying screeching sound under the driver-side. The fun never stops.

I had never heard of a cylinder in "the turbo section of the engine".

If you have the 4xe might ask over there in that section, this is DPF system that has a weak weld from the factory for the 3.0 diesel.

I just got my 2021 JLRUD back from the dealer and they said it was a broken bracket for the exhaust system. They are on back order because of the strike. Same rattling noise at idle.
