Tailgate Table

This is the Frontrunner JK table. Had to drill mounting holes in for JL tailgate and had to search for spacers and longer bolts. I used extra washers to make spacers the proper length. It works great and one of the least expensive tables with a slide out.
I really like that there are no holes in table, I can use with or without wood slider. Did I mention it’s cheap compared to some other tables?

You need to finish the wood.
After I finished with the polyurethane, I wished I would have put decal or design on wood before doing the sealing. I’ll just put stickers on now.

Here are the spacers, washers, and bolts I bought.
I made a template with the box it was shipped in.
Used a laser to line up top two holes, then used the template to get bottom two holes drilled.
If you do this table on your JL, just remember that you need to have the table low enough when it is folded down for the wood to be able to pull out under tailgate handle, yet high enough so that when you fold up the table and close the tailgate, it won’t interfere with seal or carpet.

It feels very solid. When I received it in the mail and when I took it out of the box, I was not expecting it to weigh as much as it does.

One other thing about this table versus one where you won’t use OEM plastic tailgate grill, the OEM grill has filter on it for the rear vents in the tailgate. Another table replaces plastic grill with aluminum plate. I didn’t want that. Don’t know if vent filter is used with aluminum plate. Besides that table is more than double the price.
I’m very happy with the Frontrunner.

The Frontrunner table is what I decided to purchase.seems like best bang for your buck.
I really wanted cutting board for extra space and hated having holes in my table.
Literally, less than half the price of comparable models like outback adventure.. I’m hoping quality is here with this less expensive table.

Let you see when I’m done with installation.

It's Jan 13 and I had been on the FrontRunner website NOT seeing this table -YET - for the JL, so I emailed them about it - will get back when/IF I get a response ! ? The one they show is only for JK !

edit; also on YouTube earlier I watched a 4 minute INSTALL video for the OUTBACK TRAILGATER Drop Down table via REBEL OFF ROAD ! This table is EASY install and I think is just as nice as the FRONTRUNNER Table. They both have slide outs, but the OUTBACKs is Bamboo - I think this is a better fit for cutting board use, if my memory serves me ! ? But in any case any of these slide out boards can be replaced !
If I knew how to "cut & paste" or whatever, to get the video HERE I would, but I'm a bit "slow" in those matters I'm afraid ! to "old skool" ha !

Just as Nice ? Have you access to SEE both somewhere ? Wish I could fine both, maybe if I make a few more calls to my local area and then to places in Missoula, I will be passing thru in July - Hopefully in my new JL by then ?
Yea the price diff. is quite "stunning," which leads me (too) to wonder about Quality of each ! I'm not overly concerned of that, rather I would like to SEE each before I buy - maybe I'll get to an "Expo" or Outdoor Sportsman's Show or . . . come Spring !
I want to be sure I am happy with my purchase 1st time 'round !

For those of you that had the desire to use a camp stove with the Springtail table but found that the front lip interfered with setting the stove up....we are working on an answer for that request and knocked out a prototype insert that can serve as a riser for a stove, a flat prep area and still allow items to be mounted to the MOLLE grid.

Actually, the initial prototype turned out pretty nice....fits well and bolts up easily.Should be plenty of room underneath for MOLLE straps or hardware to mount stuff on the outside grid. I think that this makes it the only table that you can mount things on the outside at the same time without one interfering with the other.

Sorry for the crappy pictures but it is minus 4 degrees outside and 35 mph winds. I'll get better pictures and some real life testing done soon.

I splurged and purchased this tailgate table / cutting board combo which is popular in many of the overlanding rigs I've seen (Tailgater) - https://ok4wd.com/camping-overland/outback-adventure-trailgater-table. Unfortunately some low-life scum stole it from my front porch before I had a chance to notice it had been delivered! Video here but the police don't expect this to go anywhere of course -

Front runner told me that they are a month or so out from releasing the JL specific table. So if anyone doesn’t want to modify and can wait a little the option will be there.

Thank you for posting the update, as I am also interested in this lower cost option and hope a brave soul will order it and report back the findings.
