This is what I don’t understand....we both have 2020 Saharas with hardtops and proximity, but you have the lock and I don’t. It must be something else?

I have a feeling this is a job for Mystery Incorporated and will end with them tearing the mask off of Jeep’s CEO to reveal it’s actually Old Man Jenkins from the abandoned Mahindra Roxor plant. He wanted Jeepers to feel insecure about their awesomeness so they would buy Broncos instead. He would have gotten away with it, too, if...

This is what I don’t understand....we both have 2020 Saharas with hardtops and proximity, but you have the lock and I don’t. It must be something else?

I felt sleuthy and checked out my local dealer's Saharas online that had actual pictures. 11 Saharas; 5 with no lock, 6 with the lock.

I opened the 11 Window Stickers and can't figure it out. Doesn't seem to correlate to any package, option, hard/soft top, exterior color, etc.

I'm at a loss. Perhaps it's a build date thing. I can't imagine it's a quality control issue, since they clearly have tailgates purposefully made (both with and without the hole in the tailgate).

Maybe somehow there was a batch of tailgates made that did not have the cutout... and the lock cylinder installer guy got to them on the assembly line.. and thought "sweet, less work for me" LOL. Joking, but I'm very curious as to the real reason behind this.

This is my feeling too...I just want to know the why. I rarely if ever use the lock, so I’m not too heartbroken about it. But what is the reason some have it and some don’t?

I don’t disagree cost cutting might have something to do with it, but if that’s the case, why not eliminate it completely?

And how do you open the tailgate if the key fob battery is dead ? The only doors having a lock cylinder are the driver/ passenger front doors, so the rear doors and tailgate are deathtrap doors now ??

LOL - class action law suit coming for the mysterious missing lock.

It is a baffling scenario of why some would have it and. not others.

Based on what Jeep charges for their packages and accessories the missing lock aught to be worth at least a $1000 refund with their mark ups.

Nope - 2020 JLUR Ordered 09/19 picked up 10/19 with every available package (including remote start) and I have the lock. Seems completely random to me ...

Very interesting, I am always interested in production line changes and this is a funny one.

I have a 2020 (8/19 build date), proximity locks, and it does have the manual lock on the tailgate.
