Drive slow... as in 25mph or slower... . If you need 4WD, you shouldn't be driving about 40mph anyway... and leave plenty of space for stopping... Two or three times as much space as you normally would.

4WD doesn't help with stopping, that's all up to the tires and conditions.

Take your time. Nobody likes being late, but when it's snowing, people will be flexible.

This is my 30th winter, I have driven in the Rockies during an ice storm. I grew up with a house in a very hilly ravine.... I have plenty of experience. I only drive when necessary.

Good luck, stay safe!

My strategy is this, when in the snow:
1. Run my hazards
2. Run only on high beam
3. Tailgate everyone as I have 4WD thus can go way faster than you, so pull over
4. Be impatient and honk at others that are stuck

BTW just because you have KO2s does not automatically mean you have the three peak mountain snowflake designation
I'll check my tires just so I know. These tires came from the factory on a Rubicon, so they are whatever Rubicons come with.

I can check to see what happens Tuesday and then either come up there Wednesday or Thursday.

Yep :like: You weren't expecting igloos, were ya?
My brother in law lived in Wasilla. So we went on vacation there about 10 years ago. Thus, stayed in his igloo. His igloo was 2000 sqft and two stories. Quite impressed with igloo construction nowadays.

My daughter in Denver just got a weather advisory pop up on her phone- 5pm Tuesday to 5pm Wednesday- 6 to 11" of snow.
I've been checking maps- if I drive through western Kansas or far eastern Colorado then west to Denver I can miss the craziness between Colorado Springs and Denver. She can tell me how it is late tomorrow.

Also be advised, even after the storm, roads aren’t guaranteed to be safe. I am reminded of that every time I drive through Wyoming via I80. Winds blow snow onto the road and cause some havoc. Snow drifts come up on you quick and can be very dangerous.

Oy... I'd rather drive on I-25 in snow and ice than drive through Kansas! ;)

OK to snow and ice, but what about snow and ice during rush hour when I-25 is bumper to bumper?

Still prefer that over driving through Kansas! JK... but I do hate driving through Kansas.
I thought that would be better roads- go through Oklahoma City and keep going north, then I-70 all the way west, but Google thinks it will add an hour travel time. If I go to Amarillo and then straight North I will go through the eastern edge of Colorado then diagonal up towards Denver. This route only adds 15 minutes. I've been stalled many times for a lot longer than that going through Colorado Springs. After the snow is on the ground I can reevaluate.

Good reading. I’m headed to St George Utah to pick up a JL next week and driving it back to Texas. A little worried about hitting some snow as my ass has never driven in it but do have a Lot of experience four wheeling. I’m on a very tight time frame so getting stuck in snow traffic would really kick my ass.

You shouldn’t hit any snow if you’re driving back to TX from southern Utah. It sometimes snows in St George but it’s quickly gone. It should be a nice drive for you.
