I’m working on setting up a host in my garage to list and store my hard top during the summer, while I have my soft top on.

The one thing I’m waffling on is how to run my mover straps. I’m planning on using two straps running front to back, with the back end coming out between the top and the back glass. The part I’m struggling with is if there are benefits or downsides I’m missing to running longer straps the full length of the top and coming out at the very front by where the freedom panels would meet the top, or using shorter straps and coming out to the rear by where the back door closes

In both cases, I’m planning on looping the straps on to a metal unistrut “H” frame, then lifting off that

Most of what I see have the straps coming out by the back doors, but I feel like going all the way to the front would be more stable

The one problem with straps is the pressure they put around corners. To hoist they also have to cinch around bends. Many do that but it puts a lot of stress on corners/lips.

The best way is to do it is to build a base for the HT to rest on and attach straps/cables to the base. That way the HT doesn't get cinched at all and it's just like resting on the ground or the Jeep. For security you can use some of the mounting bolt holes to insure it never slips off the base.

Hooks like the link above are also good because they're secured by crossbars which prevent the cinching and act as a base, albeit on top instead of bottom.

How is the rear of your top connected?
