I don't think the lever was in the highbeam position but fidgeting with the lever made the auto headlight setting start working normally.
The Wrangler's spring-loaded turn signal stalk doesn't have a low or high beam position. Said differently, its distance from the steering wheel is fixed. The driver simply presses the stalk toward or away from the wheel to toggle between headlight functions.

Yes, the Auto headlight setting adds a bit of wonkiness when manually pivoting between Low and High beams. At least you're squared away for the time being. 👍

Thanks, this was the solution. I don't think the lever was in the highbeam position but fidgeting with the lever made the auto headlight setting start working normally. I also turned off the foglights.
But why turn off the fog lights? They won't prevent the high beams from running.
Genuinely curious if there's a reason in "daily driving" not to have fogs on at all times

He took the pics seconds apart from each other. Not days.
The light control (Knob) turns left to right to left. The settings go from off to auto. But by pushing in the center of the round knob, that should turn yr fog lights on/off. By pulling/ pushing the signal stalk, yr bright headlights will turn on/off. If yr bright headlights are on yr fog lights shut off.
