This was posted in Lighting but getting zero love so Im reposting it in General.

2021 Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited. Just installed my Tazer JL Mini. My auto headlights were working when i installed the mini for a day but now are not. But heres the kicker... i had also installed a new USA model headlight switch trying to obtain ghost mode with the ebrake click (which didnt work but works for my buddy in his Canadian 2018 Sahara) and for some reason... Auto headlights works when this is set to lowbeams now and not auto.... anyone have any ideas why this would be? I unmarried and remaried Tazer to return to defaults but that didnt fix it. No idea why it only works on lowbeam.... it worked fine yesterday in auto on the dial.

Reinstall your OEM headlight switch, test for functioning and report back. Consider unmarrying the Tazer again, simply to ensure isolated testing of the switch.

I'll undo prior actions, step by step, when similar non-functioning or malfunctioning occurs, as a straightforward way of isolating the source of the problem(s). This mirrors what pilots are taught to do, and is a very effective M.O.

Haha I would totally reinstall the original switch... if i didnt break it taking it out haha. I mean the auto headlights are still functioning on low beam and the off position works but doesnt turn the halos or the marker lights off even if i click the ebrake. Makes me wonder if their is a setting that tells it what switch is installed... because it is an OEM Mopar US style switch... and it was functioning on auto for the first bit. I unmarried and remarried after a full reboot and still had same issue. Its a Canadian Jeep that came with the Canadian switch WITHOUT the off selection.

My ultimate goal as I said is to be able to obviously have Auto Headlight selection working again and be able to put the switch in the off position and click the ebrake to ghost mode. My buddies Canadian 2018 Sahara has the same exact switch in it and he can be driving in the mountains, put the switch in the off position with one click on the ebrake and go entirely ghost mode while driving.

Ah. That provides the necessary context for your mention of "ghost mode". ?

Having visited a couple of provinces some years ago, I'm familiar with the always-on headlight law, but I didn't know that headlight switches (at least on some Canadian-spec vehicles?) didn't have an Off position.

Tangentially, I installed a headlight cut switch on my motorcycle, precisely to extinguish the auto-on headlight in the event that I'm having trouble starting the engine. That hasn't yet happened, but the modest output of the bike's stator means every saved watt is precious (Edit: and by extension, the load on the battery when the starter is engaged.)

Ya i want to cut all the lights at will on the exterior. And in my previous vehicles even in canada was as simple as lifting the ebrake a click and turning to off position. But for whatever reason its no bueno in this jeep.... im wondering if anyone knows specific settings they had to apply AFTER putting in a US switch with the off position.

I'm just spitballing here, but it might be as simple as removing the headlight switch and installing an inline SPST switch. When engaged, it would serve to sever the connection between the headlight switch and the corresponding harness...which, if my guess is correct, would extinguish the exterior lights since a signal isn't being received from the now-deenergized headlight switch.

I can't say if CANBUS would recognize this modification, and allow it to function.

Not gonna lie. This sounds like it might be a little more complicated than what someone else might have a more simpler solution to it. It will be kept in the running though and looked into if someone hasnt already had this exact same issue. I do indeed have aftermarket vivid lumen headlights installed as well but... this shouldnt be an issue even with aftermarket. Auto was working prior to.

Fair enough. In my defense, my idea of a small switch is as simple a solution -- if it works -- as this experienced DIYer can suggest at the moment. If there's a better shortcut that can be proven to work, great.

It sounded like spanish to me haha. Im not much for electrical myself. I was hoping that theres an internal setting or a few that maybe i need to do to tell it that it now has a US model switch... thats what i meant by simple. Nothing intended towards your idea at all haha.

The Tazer messed with my auto headlights also. I unmarried and rebooted numerous times, but the problem is still present, despite the device not being present in the Jeep.

They work... they just work only when the switch is in low beam instead of auto lol.

i would be guessing but i suspect it would have something to do with the daytime running light module that canadian vehicles have. when the headlight swt is in any position the drl come on when the igition is in run position. the headlights use high beam, but at 60%? instead of 100%. the module used to be a separate unit from the ecm. not sure anymore. maybe this will give you another item to check.
