Many people cannot afford a $40k+ vehicle or do not want to pay that much for a vehicle. Years ago when I commuted, I had $12k-$14k Ford or Mazda vehicles since I drove the wheels off by commuting. My son is in the same situation with his old Honda needing to be replaced. He can afford an expensive vehicle but why since it's just his daily high mileage commute.

You were leasing so you arent as vested in the Jeep brand, more options but you're in a Ford Maverick.
Jeep has different vehicles besides the Wrangler to fit a 30k budget.
We'll all be dead and Jeep will still be here.

It was my third wrangler, I leased because of the credits, and it was our first PHEV. I had thought about getting a sport 4xe but they are now the price of the Sahara I leased 3 years. And things that were standard back then arent. At $56k I just didnt see the value.

If I didn't buy my 4xe in 2021, there was no way I would buy a 2024 4xe today.

The 2024 cost 30% more than the 2021, same build.

In 2021 the trade difference between my 2018 and the 2021 was $19,000

Today the trade difference between that 2018 and a 2024 would be $50,000.

Stellantis is going to have to rethink carrying 4 brands (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram) along with whatever Euro brands they offer in the US.

It seems like they're fine if Chrysler dies, with Dodge following close behind while Ram makes $$$ while the truck sale craze continues (why won't that bubble burst already lol)

I think they are completely confused as to what to do with Jeep. Is it their "premium" brand? Is it their "luxury" brand? The GC tries to be a gateway to Wagoneer...but both are awful. It used to be that brands would market their various makes to consumers with the idea of stepping up...Ford to Mercury, Mercury to Lincoln, etc. Now, that's about as gone as the middle class in the US

Funny side note, on their global site, Stellantis separates Jeep from the other 3 US makes...classifying Jeep as a "Global" Sport Utility and the others as "American" brands

I had a 2007 toyota yaris bought new for $14.7k. Oil, gas, tires, and brakes is all it ever asked for. 350k, until my brother drove it into a high median, and killed it. Since then, my car experience has been sh!t.

It seems like there is a secret (or not so secret) undertone of hoping that the maker of the vehicles we are so passionate about fails. I just don’t understand that coming from enthusiast that will need a steady supply of spare parts and maybe even warranty work to keep these vehicles on the roads and trails for years to come.

My job security has never been better with our recent quality. Stellantis is 100% positioning the CDJR brands to sell them off. They're milking the brands, stiffing the supliers, screwing the dealers, firing the engineers and other workers responsible for making everything work. They keep laying off and re-hiring the builders themselves every quarter.

Give it 2 years. The CEO will have jumped ship and the NA brands will be seeking buyers.


Almost every part I go to order these days is backordered. It is insane.

Best I can tell is total Stellantis US sales are down year over year but the Jeep brand saw an increase from quarter 1 to quarter 2.

Interesting observation. Though, this might be more indicative of brand availability. Can’t recall seeing any recent Chrysler, Dodge, or RAM products in my last overseas trip (Japan, Korea). Did see Jeeps though. I’m assuming it’s a similar situation in Europe and the Middle East.

I might be in left field on this but I think part of the reason of the decline of Stellantis sales is partly for 2 reasons, first they are very overpriced, secondly their absolute horrid quality rating and longevity.

We might be able to overlook paying more for something we really want but to have it fall apart at or just after the warranty expires. Then you need to dump tens of thousands into it to keep it running. Or hope for the best and roll the dice.

This might be acceptible for a toy that doesn't get driven everyday but it's something most of us cannot afford especially in today's economy and inflation.

Stellantis needs to focus on their cash cow (Jeep) and stop using them to support the other brands that are loosing them money. If those other brands are not profitable sell them off or just stop making them. This way they could lower the cost and improve Jeep quality back to where it should be.
