And that literally could be that last comment that this thread needs....Ford and Gm STILL haven't done any layoffs Amazing how the tariff only affected Stellantis, and only hours after they were announced
How is that MAGA?It's not worth getting into a discussion with you when your post things like this. Like most MAGAts, you've bought the dear leaders mixed up logic, hook, line and sinker.
The people who are not going to be "getting around it" are the American consumers, who will be facing significantly higher prices due to these tariffs. I know your dear leader "Couldn't care less" but I believe many American consumers do care. His bullshit about the tariffs making Americans buy American made cars is so out of touch with reality. There's no such thing as an "American Made Car", every automobile produced in this country uses parts that go back and forth across our borders, being taxed each time. And I guarantee you the producers of those automobiles will pass that additional cost onto American consumers.

doesn't fit the agenda...And that literally could be that last comment that this thread needs....![]()
Are you clear on who pays those tariffs? Those tariffs are collected from people that pick up the items from the port, not the other country. That is, those tariffs are paid by us, not them. The tariff idea came from our own past history back before income taxes were a thing. Our government ran solely on revenue collected from tariffs. Most foreign governments today use tariffs against us to fund their budgets.
Emails? Get in loser, we're using Signal now. It's Hillary's fault! Where's Hunter Bidens Laptop when you need it?
Interestingly, Stellantis has the biggest exposure to tariffs and USMCA ripples since so much of their production is in Mexico. GM is second, and Ford, I believe has the least exposure, when talking about the formerly Big 3. Stellantis is also doing the most poorly.Ford and Gm STILL haven't done any layoffs Amazing how the tariff only affected Stellantis, and only hours after they were announced
There your wrong my friend I am/was union and we fought against NAFTA so there is part of me that is conflicted about free trade.Haha, You are describing every news room and talk show set that I walked into for the last 30+ years, but instead of TDS, it was a more generic denial syndrome.
To sum it up, Trump can do no right, and Clinton could do no wrong. Every other president varied, depending on where they were on the spectrum.
As long as we agree tariff and tax are interchangeable, and that this is a national tax on goods. Perhaps the only thing you've managed to be right about in this whole thread. The tariff idea came from our own past history back before income taxes were a thing. Our government ran solely on revenue collected from tariffs. Most foreign governments today use tariffs against us to fund their budgets.
People literally lost their shit when the price of eggs doubled. I mean, actually lost their shit, and twice on Sundays with an extra side of f*cking crazy -sauce..People tend to overestimate the impact of tariffs. In 2024 the US imported ~3.3T in goods (not counting services). With average tariffs of ~30% that is ~$1T in a $30T economy (GDP in 2024 was just under $29T).
So even with no adjustments, substitutions, etc tariffs <4% of GDP. Yes, it is significant, but no need to jump out the window.
So we'll drink more California wine vs French, eat more Vermont cheddar cheese vs European cheese, buy more Wranglers instead of 4Runners. Life goes on.
