Bingo!
I made sure to leave my Jeep in the same spot so assuming its in the same spot then the blue tape sounds like a great idea! If you are not keeping it in the same spot then adding blue painters tape on the tires as well so you know where to 'chalk' the tires, will be required ?
That's a good idea too, especially if you plan on road testing them and then making further adjustments.

I'm mostly just remembering back to the last headlights I adjusted. The upper cutoff was more of a slight upward curve for each lamp and after tweaking one and then trying to get the other to match up, I eventually lost track of exactly how far I adjusted them both from where they were in the first place. A bit of tape makes for a cheap reference of your changes if nothing else.

@Aonar
@eldiego

In the videos I have watched there have been two approaches lets say....

A few videos say to tighten the 2 light bracket bolts firmly, then install the SS3 on the bumper. Supposedly, you can still push on the SS3 and adjust it a tad up or down..

Now, in other videos, they say do not snug up the two bolts firmly.... they say do finger tight, then install. You push SS3 firmly, in order to aim and then pull the SS3 out and tighten the 2 bracket bolts.

I'm thinking, best is to do one side at a time. I'll finger tight the bracket bolts somewhat firmly and then install the SS3 into the bumper.

Now, I will aim the SS3 using the markings I placed on the garage front wall... markings that I placed based on my factory installed LED fogs that I feel are adjusted properly..

After aimed, I will gently remove the SS3 from the bumper, tighten firmly the 2 bracket bolts and then install again in the bumper.... and then recheck against lines on front wall.

Once aimed properly, I will reinstall the plastic cover that is on the back side of the bumper.. Then onto the other side of the JL to repeat the process.

Comments... What did you do.. ?
Based on my experience, I think your proposed approach is probably best to avoid the adjustment headaches. I had left my lights mounted in place and tried to tighten down the adjustment screws, which was quite difficult from an access perspective. I like your idea of gently removing them. tightening further and remounting. I wish I had thought of that…or that you had done the install first! ?
Otherwise, like you said, everything about the install is straight forward and easy.

Well it's done ..... I installed a set of @Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro Type M Kit White SAE Fog's.

I waited almost 4 years and 66,000 miles to do this. What was I thinking... I should have done this during the first few weeks of ownership. What a major difference in lighting!

Install was easy and would be so for most guys or gals.

The build quality of the lights is top notch which is typical of a Diode Dynamics offering.

The install was easy. As for the aiming I was asking about... Well, I just adjusted so the SS3 fit flush against the inner bumper plastic and the end result was the adjustment was on the money.

I felt the same way when I saw the light output (also went with the Pros)…now THESE are fog lights! The difference from the stock LEDs is remarkable and I’m happy I made the upgrade. ????

Indeed a terrific fog light upgrade. I also have Diode Dynamics clear side markers and they too were a terrific add.

Oops, problem for a minute when I did the install of the fogs... I must have not properly seated the one fog light harness connector and this happened...:LOL: I fixed the issue though..

Were you coming from the stock halogen fogs or the stock LED fogs?

A little late to this party but thanks to @Rhinebeck01 posting is the ‘what did you do to your JL today’ thread I somehow found myself here. And also a thanks to him likely causing me to spend significant coin on another mod I didn’t know I ‘needed’.

I’m now looking hard at the Diode Dynamics here and also looking at what else is comparable. So far my lighting upgrades have all been Baja Designs. Is there a comparable BD fog light that fits in the OEM plastic bumper? I found a BD that seems to be designed for the OEM steel bumper. That said, I have an aftermarket bumper that accepted my OEM LED fogs that came from my plastic bumper as easy as plug n play.

Just another post to say WOW, that the @Diode Dynamics SS3 fogs really have made a positive difference in regard to my night time driving the last few nightss... What a difference!

With my Wranglers over the years, I have always had the Jeep set up to allow driving with fogs with high beams. I do this as in deer/bear country, you really are better off brightly lighting up the back roads that you travel on.

Well, with the Diode Dynamics SS3's white fog's .... paired up with factory LED high beams.... geeeeez, it's like you are driving in a brightly lighted football stadium. Even the SS3's with just the factory LED low beams, there is a dramatic difference.

Anyway, a real easy install and yes a terrific offering. I should have installed the SS3's long ago.

Oh, the SS3 looks way nicer then the factory LED fog light.

Here is a comparison we have to some of the competitor options available on the market!

Thanks John. Do you know if the DD SS3 Pros would be plug n play in an aftermarket front bumper knowing that the OEM LED fogs coming out of the OEM plastic are plug n play? In other words, do the DD’s have the same attachment interface and are within the same volume envelope?

In theory, as long as you choose the kit with the correct bumper configuration, our kit should work with little to no modification.

This is assuming that the aftermarket bumper does in fact use the same mounting points as the OEM bumper, which our kit is designed to fit into. However, this is not something we can confirm.

In case anyone is on the fence so to speak in regard to replacing their factory fog lights on their vehicle.....

After 2 weeks of having/using in various conditions the @Diode Dynamics SS3 fog lights on my JL....(replacing the factory LED fogs) Well, I'm a believer now, so to speak.

Another terrific offering from Diode Dynamics.
