Great pics and glad y’all got to experience a little of the area before it shut down!! Definitely need to come back. Lots more trail for you to discover. I always recommend Broken Arrow—one of my faves. Fun and gorgeous scenery.
yeah, I'm bummed we didn't get that trail in...we were going to get up early and hit it up before we left on Wednesday, but news reports were that they were shutting down all the hiking and off road trails that day....will be the first trail we hit when we come back. We will be back for sure, That place is special

I second Broken Arrow! Diamondback Gulch is fun to go to the ruins.

Now that sounds like fun. I recently re-located to this area from Portland, OR and am looking to expand my knowledge and experience of off-roading as I'm a Jeep Noob!

How does one hook up with that group?
by the way, if just learning to drive off-road you live in the perfect place. close to you is a really good place to test things out and get used to your Jeep. Im still waiting on my newest Rubicon to be built, but am happy to go with you sometime if you want / need a spotter etc.

Being a local one of my favorite stops is the Happy Jack area (know as the rim) and is a great place to trail, lots of trees, deer and elk. The Happy Jack lodge RV park does have Cabins to rent for over night trips.
Picture below is our small group visiting Smiley Rock last weekend east of Chino Valley follow a short trip to Jerome for lunch.

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
hit me up if you go. I am always down to head up the the cooler country living here. I can also get some others from the forum to go as we have a pretty big group from the forums here in the Phoenix area.
I will be in Flagstaff for Overland Expo in Sept. but do not plan on wheeling in Sedona then. I will be back to Arizona in January of 2022 and plan to spend three months between New Mexico, Arizona and Texas. With the bulk of the time in Arizona.

These photos are all incredible. Absolutely gorgeous. I've never been, but I clearly need to get out there. Maybe I trade Moab for Sedona this winter's trip.

Just... wow. Stunning scenery! Looks like a photographer's paradise.
Wish I would have known my good camera was not fully charged....didnt get to use it much, but I got a few shots I'll try to load soon....That place is a photographer's paradise

We feel spoiled that Sedona is only a 2-hr drive from home. Definitely a beautiful area.

That is a bummer. At least you got some in! It really is a beautiful place. I love it up there. Let us know when you’re coming back—I’m sure there’s plenty of us on here from the AZ area that’d meet up

That’s what I’ve heard—-still haven’t hit diamondback gulch yet. It’s on my to-do list. Looks awesome

That it is! There’s some good camping spots at the top of schnebly hill that overlook the entire valley. Sunsets up there are stunning

we did Diamondback about a week ago and it was awesome for sure. We also did nearby Outlaw trail that’s not as hard but also fun to tag on since it’s so close.
