And son, you say you wanna be a winner . You remind me a lot of my younger days. But boy, I’m gonna sit right here and push this button all night. And if there’s somethin’ you gotta gain to prove by winnin’ some silly race. Well OK, I quit, I lose, you’re the WINNER. ? ?…And if it wadn’t for this glass eye of mine, why I’d she’d a happy tear. ?
Funny thing is, he claims he’s apparently an older fellow. Maybe his grandkid got access to his phone or something because this was pretty embarrassing behaviour.

Actually I was making a joke of it with a slight rewrite of a part of—The Winner by Bobby Bare — if you are unfamiliar it’s worth a listen, a fun country classic. ? ( my grandkids could teach this old tech idget how to use this gizmo) ?

As a 15 year owner of TJ, I ran a soft top year round in Maine for 13 of the 15 (and counting) years. The ease of putting a soft top up and down when environmental factors came about was of absolutely no concern. The look of a soft top is hands down the best look for a Jeep.

With that being said, I have a SOT on my 23 Sport S and I can say that it's the most wonderfully overused feature I've ever had on a vehicle and IMO, one of the better options that Jeep has offered to the Wrangler scene in a LONG time.

I got a hard top when I ordered but bought a soft top NIB off of a forum member for cheap. I have the space to store the hardtop but since that is not an option I would go soft top. It is very well designed and easy to use. What it comes down to is if you want a sun roof or the option to drop down completely.

Pretty interesting how close the poll is.

This round I took sot over the dual top, I’m interested to see how it is. The main reason is security over the soft top and not having to change my hard top. It’s not that bad to do, but having to ask someone for a hand to help is kind of annoying.

biased but its the SOT for me. 1 touch convenience for when the weather changes suddenly.(live in the northeast) coupled with a hothead headliner which helps in both summer and winter and cabin noise reduction. both rear window panels easily removed and stored in bag supplied with the jeep. i will admit that my neighbors Willys looks awesome with the soft down all the way compared to my C pillar roof frame with everything removed.

If you drive it daily and don't care to miss the full open top experience the SOT is amazing because of convenience. Do not let anyone tell you the SOT is the same as having the full top off because it is not. I just swapped my SOT for a hardtop simply because I do not drive my jeep daily and I missed the capability of going fully topless from my other jeeps. If my Jeep was my daily driver I would opt for the SOT bc you use it more frequently due to convenience

Hey all,

Looking to build my 24 from factory this time instead of buying off lot to make sure I get everything I want this time

Just moved to south-central Texas and have been going back and forth from the Soft Top vs SOT and which I should choose

I don't want the hard top because it was such a pain to store/remove on and off during the summer. Since I am an warmer/sunnier climate, I want to take advantage of the weather as much as possible.

I only had a hard top on my Jeep last time so I don't know which one to pick this time. 4k seems like a lot but it is nice to just hit it and get that open air experience

Thoughts?
Good topic!
No clear winner, as they both have great advantages and disadvantages.
In Michigan climate I prefer Dual Top. Gives me most of both advantages.
I love the look of soft safari Canopy up w/o windows on super hot and sun. Big open air feel w/o blazing sun. Love the look of no top. Doesn't feel the same with SOT.
For me if I were in warm climate, Premium Soft Top please.
Unless you really want the convenience power sunroof and glass hatch.

Sorry if this was said already, so many good comments here to read through. But just in case, wanted to point out that the SOT isn’t available in every color right now. In case that’s a factor. Hardest decision I’ve ever had to make between Anvil and SOT…. Wife won and we went SOT.

Since weather and highway seem to be sticking point, figured I'd share how we handle that.

On long road trips, we'll ride windows in mainly for noise. Other than that we try to run windowless for about half the year. Whenever we pull the windows, we put on a Bestop Duster (https://www.bestop.com/products/dus...e-bar-factory-soft-top-removed-black-diamond/ ). The duster is normally enough to protect the exposed areas out back in rain when combined with the doors and the top in safari, and that combination works well on shorter (few hour) highway trips. The Duster probably adds 30 seconds to the windows removal routine.

Bestop does have a "wind jammer" accessory that works with the duster that we haven't found is needed, but may help in heavier weather.

Doors off, of course, creates a separate issue regardless of top. We have a Trail Gear Oasis (formerly Wet Willys) to cover the jeep in that situation.

Coastal Alabama here (so weather basically like Florida heat and humidity). I only briefly considered the SOT when I ordered my Jeep - the cost felt ridiculous and I thought it looked weird with the windows off. I had a Toyota 4Runner with a sunroof that I opened frequently before my JLUR and it’s just not the same thing as having the top down. I also prefer the look of the black fenders, top, etc.

If Iā€˜d had somewhere to store the hard top I might have gone dual top but I didn’t so I went with the premium soft top. I have it down at every possible opportunity - I got the storage bag and take it with me when I travel so I can take the windows off and put the top down whenever I want. Sometimes that isn’t practical so I’ll do the Sunrider only, which is fine but not my favorite.

I’m 53 years old and only 5’-0ā€ tall (and didn’t want side steps) so the convenience of the SOT would be great but I’ve grown accustomed to hopping up on the Jeep to open/close (I’m very aware now of how many banks we have around here because in a pop-up shower their drive-thru canopies come in handy!)

Another possibility I considered was the MyTop. I figured I’d wait and see and so far I haven’t wanted to spend the extra money for it.
