If you have the money and space to store a hard top then go for it. Don't worry about resale value in 5-10 years, worry about enjoying it too much! lol

Resurrecting an older thread with a new question on the topic. I'm leaning heavily toward going prem soft top only, as I'm not worried about the winter (blast furnace heater in the jeep coupled with parking in a garage) and the fact that the standard hard top doesn't really seem much quieter.

But, with the apparent popularity of the hard top AND the lack of plumbing for one if you don't order the hard top from the factory, would I be better off getting the dual top group for resale value in 5-10 years?

I know, you don't buy a vehicle for resale, but if a small change can positively impact resale without diminishing the ownership experience, seems like a smart move, no?
skip it. i went PST only, which also has value over regular. think about it this way: where and how will you store that hardtop for ten years without damage? oh, and i’m north of boston with no worries about the cold.

That's exactly what I was thinking, too. Good to hear it from somebody else. Thanks!

and funny, dude who put my tires on told me he wasted money on a hard top thinking he’d need it, swapped for soft top in his first summer and never touched hard top again

Dual top that way you can roll it into lease or purchase payment vs finding 2k

I went with a hard top only and will get a Trektop NX Plus when they are available. However, the oem soft top is pretty nice. Makes me wish I had ordered the dual top.
So we are getting the Wrangler JKU and very seriously thinking of getting the dual top. But we are also going to put a gobi rack on. Do you think we will regret NOT getting the dual top? We live in San Diego...so almost always nice weather...

I wouldn’t get the 2 top option unless you have a garage, with room to store everything. I went with 2 tops, glad I did, but was surprised at the amount of room it requires. Doing this without the needed room would be difficult, IMHO.

not sure about defrost! and i’m north shore, got an awesome deal across the border at foss jeep near portsmouth area (essex i think), ask for jorge! i believe i’m circa 5.5 percent below on price
Glad to hear you had a great experience with us! Jorge is no longer with us at Foss but you will still be in great hands! We always guarantee lowest pricing in New England at Foss Motors! I took over Jorge's desk in the showroom a few months ago so feel free to give me a shout if there's anything we can help you with at the dealership. We do have a referral program as well! Hope all is well with your Jeep!
