Soft Top Door Surround Issue

So many issues.

So. Many. Issues.

New to me premium soft top. Mounting the passenger side door surround, the bolts won’t mate flush with the threads on the top side. Driver side went on without an issue. Here’s the part in question:

I don’t see anything obvious as far as something being warped or twisted. And it doesn’t appear to be binding on the front door surround. Both front and rear bolts go in fine but never find any threads to bite.

I ran out of daylight, so further investigation will have to wait until tomorrow. Anything common or obvious I may be missing???

Are you trying to put the bolts in from the top?

I’d have to double check on mine but pretty sure they go in from the bottom.

I tried again this morning and everything seemed to line up ok. I’m guessing end of day fatigue or frustration was the issue last night. All looks buttoned up and happy.

But I am curious what this flap is for. There is one in each side and they don’t seem to connect to anything. My friend’s top didn’t have them. I can tuck them up loosely out of the way, but just seems odd. Nothing looks ripped or torn.
