So having just had a few blazing hot days here in Boston last week, I had the top down! It was very dusty up there, so when I got home I stood in the back to do a clean and noticed that two brackets opposite each other are starting to fail…
Anyone else come across this phenomenon?!

Yes. You overtightened the bracket. Very easy to replace. If you have warranty, you can try it.

Thanks…my Jeep came with the Premium Soft Top only, and I have never removed it completely, so I haven’t tightened anything. As is…just turned 4 last week.

Yes, just had one replaced under warranty. All the Jeep Techs said they were cheap!

So its clearly a warranty issue. Its very easy to overtighten them and the design is not optimal. On other hand they are cheap and very easy to replace.

It took 2 weeks to get the part in on mine - during that time the soft top on the passenger side would slap the plastic track when going down a bumpy road when the top had side to side movement.

I thought that would go away once they replaced the bracket- it did not and the tech went on a test ride with me and was not sure how that would be fixed. I have an appointment next week to see if they can resolve it - my guess is there is nothing to tighten or fix. I think the integrity of the top is gone at this point.

Awww man. That sucks.
Fortunately nothing is technically wrong, I just happened to be up there cleaning and saw the cracks. I hope this doesn’t start something.

So update for those interested:
Cannot just replace cracked bracket…
Have to replace entire rail around rear door and the plastic parts are almost $800….
Without labor.
Super glue anyone??

I know dealerships were shady, but every time I hear stories like this, it still astounds me.
