@jeepixel, I don't think I'd use them in that application. These are more for ease of hookup during recovery operations, and less of a projectile hazard if something should give way.

I have a set of the Smittybilt soft shackles. I got to use them just a week after receiving them when I pulled a couple of my neighbors out of some deep snow they were stuck in. These shackles were easy to use and worked fine.

@Bilymac, thank you for the feedback. I was hoping to use them to save weight, but it's good to know they are not an option to steel.
