I looked at many different bumpers and price points for my JL on Bumpers. I could have spent $1500 on one bumper but thought Id save some and think I made a mistake. Ive purchased Smittybilt before, but I have not seen anything like this in the past. Has anyone had this issue with Smittybilt or seen this?

This bumper is less than a month old, look at all the weld points. Part number 77807 - I have a claim into Smittybilt, I am waiting on their response. Even if they refund, or replace it, it's 2-4 hours take off, put new on, and hope it doesn't happen again.

Made in China at its finest!

I bought a Smittybilt air compressor a few years back: the air hose broke off after 12 months; I couldn’t find a replacement fitting that’d fit.

Smittybilt told me I had to buy another air compressor. So I did...just not one of theirs...

Smittybilt is an enigma. They do some things pretty well, others not-so-much.

Going way back, I installed some of their rock slides on my ā€˜89 YJ. The drivers side rusted to hell in less than a year, while the passenger side looked almost new.
I know their winches have a pretty good reputation, but I’m going to continue to stay away from things like body armor, metal work, etc.

I always cringe a little when I see someone bolting up a bunch of Smittybilt mods.

Agreed. I got a Smittybilt spare tire relocation adapter on my JL, where no one can see it.

I'll buy Smittybilt shovels and recovery straps but that's about it, anything more complicated than that and you start taking chances.

Fixing stupid....
No clue what is going on there. I had the xrc gen2 rear bumper for 2 years on my 19 jl. Looked almost brand new when i took it off and installed it on a friends jeep.

Just ask @cosine he knows!
My Smitty XRC Gen1 rear bumper has been great, my 9500lb winch also great. My fender liners have been fine except for a completely moronic mount where they have most of the liner mounted to the top under-fender area but have one mount below the rubber body mount attached to the frame. Dumbos didn't figure there's flex there I guess, and that mount broke off. Luckily there was enough other attachment points that's it's still well anchored, but still~get a clue!!!

I know you can get bad from anyone, I would love to be able to afford other bumpers, but really thought this one looked good and Ive had SB before. I hope they honor this, and replace it or it will be the last thing I purchase and Ill post this everywhere I can. We shall see.

That's some fine ShittyBuilt quality right there from good old China.

Where did you buy this from? If it was Northridge, Quadratec, etc... bark up their tree. Simply tell them that you are not satisfied and show proof that it is extremely poor quality and work getting a refund from them. Trying to get SB to honor this is going to be more difficult IMO. Plenty of good American made bumpers out there very reasonably priced.
I run the Motobilt Crushers and they kick arse and look great.

My first YJ came with a bunch of Smittybilt crap, but God damn their winch was super reliable.

I have a knock off Smittybilt bumper that looks better than that, maybe your bumper was "bilt" on a friday afternoon?
