Smittybilt x20 winch controllers on permanent backorder?

After losing one controller and running over another, I went to order a replacement winch controller for my Smittybilt X2O. I was told by 4WP that they are on backorder and have not seen any come in in the last 5 months.

This has me thinking, I would like to go with something different. I'm thinking about going with a generic 3-pin wired controller, like this, and adding a wireless controller like this.

Has anyone else here gone this route?

Sorry I can't help.

Don't take this the wrong way: Back orders, welcome to my world! The wheels I originally wanted; it's been well over 6 months. Another set of wheels I was interested in - check back in 3 months. Steel bumper - out of stock until further notice, Sliders out of stock - maybe December. Today, LOD sliders - out of stock. I'm the Charlie Brown when it comes to ordering parts. ?

Sorry for the confusion, but I'm not looking to replace the entire winch. Just the controller. That is what is on back order.

The winch is still fine and I have the corded connection that came with it. I may just build a switch box to use with the cord and use that until they start shipping replacements again.
