I have a 22 Jeep Wrangler that is now outside of Warranty. The other day coming home I hit the button to close the Skytouch. When it got to the closed position I suddenly heard a grinding noise that lasted for about 2 min.
Now it will not open. If I push the forward button it just grinds, pushing the back button nothing happens and no grinding. No error messages such as "power top obstacle detected" etc.
I've tried to do the re-calibrate and still the same issue. I checked the straps/ rivets and they appear to intact.
I'm thinking something might have broken off the motor or it maybe got off track. The motor doesn't seem too expensive, but I can't find any articles or videos on how to replace it yourself. If I take the cover off the motor anything to look for?
Any ideas what else I can try? If not, may just take it to my mechanic and hope for the best.
