Greetings all,
Just joined the forum. My wife just purchased a new JL with the sky one touch power top. The button seems to be working intermittently. A few times when trying to open the top it appears the button is dead. Then all of a sudden it works fine. This is not a speed issue as it has happened even while parked with Jeep running. Any ideas before bringing a 3 day old car in for service. thank you.

Possibly it's just a faulty switch. These things can happen. Yes, a diagnostic exam at the dealer is recommended.

Mine works consistently. If I were throwing wild guesses out, I'd say faulty switch or a loose connection. Definitely seems service worthy.

That switch is a CAN bus switch that you just press and it goes. Sounds like the switch connector could be loose of the harness in the pillar maybe got pinched? The switch pops out and easy to check. If you're not comfortable I would swing by the dealership and let them check it.

and of course check the corresponding fuse as they are known to be loose.

Check fuses-if solid, let the dealer fix it. Gotta be a loose connection.

Trying to get it in Friday. Just thought there might be a reset or something. Thank you for the reply

Check and make sure all of the fuses and relays in your fuse box are fully pushed in and seated. As you’ll see in numerous posts on any number of topics, it is very common for these to come from the factory with fuses/relays not fully seated. I didn’t have this SOT issue, but did have several loose fuses on mine.
