Yep. Its ability to withstand snow is somewhere between a soft top and a hard top. They're neither great, no terrible with snow. That said, I've seen this question asked many times here and the general rule people reply with is it's best to go outside periodically during heavy snowfall to clear the roof so that it's not all building up upon your SOT.
And if there is ice stuck to it, do not try to forcefully remove it - the heat from the cabin will eventually help it come loose. They're neither great, no terrible with snow. Makes me feel much better now lol , from what i read online and you guys here so far i think is going to be fine . I will try keep it in the garage as much as i can too during snowy days . My first Jeep exited about it.They are designed just a bit north (and some east) of Chicago, if that makes you feel any better.
I will consider the headliners , by the way any special snow brush to be used ?I got the hotheads headliner that mjg4xe mentioned, for the opposite reason (I live outside of Phoenix) but can say it does help a decent bit with heating/cooling and road noise. Had it on for over a year now with no issues.
My wife has trouble getting in , i need to get side steps on it .I have a family member that just got a XE with that top. Not sure if she researched things or not. She lives in a snow belt in NY State, but the Jeep will be garage kept. But she works as a Dental Hygienist so it will be outside during work hours. She is NOT tall enough to brush the top off so I wonder if she will have any issues with it.
I have the Bestop Sunrider top and so far no issues or leaks with that.
Significantly better than a soft top in these regards!Three messages in and this already sounds awful.
Mine has been out in the Northeast winters with no garage and have not had a problem.I live in NWI and mine has been fine, however mine does get storage in a garage at night. No issue with car washes either to get the salt off.
