Size up tires

I've got my wife geared up to pilot an up-armored JT on stock suspension sometime in the next 5 years, so I can go pllay with the JL lol. She's gonna be hearing steel screeching in her nightmares for years. It's all in the sell, gotta strike when the Stockholm's Syndrome is running strong.

Yeah no kidding. My wife cried the first time she heard metal on rocks, and refused to get back in the Jeep after I high centered it. I was easily able to back up and take a different line, but she was never the same again lol. She’s a trooper though and she knows her husband will buy more Jeep parts if they break. What are husbands good for anyways

Just explain to her there are bypasses for all that stuff youre watching. Dont need to tell her you dont plan to use them

In a perfect world we will bring both our Jeeps out there to play. She can take all the bypasses she wants as long as she’s able to pull around and winch me out! She’s going for the badges, I’m going for the violence

I think my wife has progressed pretty good over the years. We just traded her 18 JLU sport for the 24 Willys but she knew how to party

I will put her on everything that I’M comfortable with. In the back of my mind I do know that these are daily driven and 500-600 miles from home, so I’m always cognizant of that.

She also has 2 knee replacements and a hip replacement, so just having her out there is usually good enough for me.

I agree with the first quote, if you're not going to be doing a lot of off-roading 35s will fit on the factory rims without a lift and as long as you're not doing anything too crazy, you really won't need the flex so you can keep stock suspension now.

If you want to upgrade, there's plenty of 2-in lifts out there that aren't too too pricey.

If you didn't want to spend too much money on a lift but you wanted a little bit extra clearance between the fenders and the top of the tires, you can put up to a 1.25 in body pucks without causing any issues between the drivetrain and the wires/hoses on the vehicle.

That being said once you go to 35s, you'll find it incredibly difficult to go backwards. I was planning on running 35s off-road only and 32s as my daily, and the second I put on the 35s I haven't been back since.

Jeeps just look better with bigger tires!!

I have a similar question as the OP. I have a JLU Sahara with 3/4” Daystar spacer pucks and aftermarket wheel with 4.5” backspacing. Currently running Falken Wildpeak 285/70/17’s and when they wear out would like to go to 315’s or true 35”s. I only do light trail runs, so no need for massive clearance or articulation. Does anyone know if there will be any issues going a size larger in tire? Btw, I have the 2.0L with 3:56 gearing, std 8-sp. Any input is appreciated.
