I discovered the easiest way to deal with them is online chat. When you call, you have to haggle to get the best price as they seem to go through their pre determined rhetoric.

Online chat though is more to the point. You type what you have been paying and say you want to renew at that price. Bam, all set again.

NOT wise/prudent to use your bank charge card when dealing with XM. XM has a track record of screwing over those that keep a card on file.

Hint: Buy a VISA gift card and use that to pay your XM subscription with... You can get the pay by credit card, year deal and not be subject/not chancing XM hitting your charge card in the future..
This. Because if you forget to cancel they will start charging full price. But if you do the renewal as all have said they will give you credit for that first charge toward your new agreement so you're not out any money or over paying. I also usually have a 0 balance rebate card that isn't expired and I'll go into account after renewal and add it since it will expire before my next renewal. That way the account has a card on file but it can't be charged if I forget about my renewal date.

When the free trial ran out on my Grand Cherokee, I waited and ended up getting 3 yrs for $99. Will wait and see what they offer on the JL. ?

My wife bought me a lifetime subscription to Sirius back around 2005 (before Sirius and XM merged). It cost about $500 at the time and is still honored. I had to pay a $75 fee to transfer the lifetime subscription to my JL. The only add-on I have is the Travel Link package (about $2/month). I usually listen to FM radio around town but listen to SiriusXM when traveling and at home on Alexa.

Online chat - sounds like a plan. I'll give that a shot on my next day off.

A couple bucks a month is nothing. But $25 - $35 a month - that adds up. No way.

$99 for three years - that would be a deal. Normally I'm listening to FM radio, or have my phone in the holder and listening to Pandora through the radio.

Thanks!

RETIRED!
I always get the $5 a month deal. I call them about a week before it is time to renew and tell them I an going to cancel the sevice to to the high price that they are going to start charging upon renewal, and that I am not in the vehicle enough to justify the cost. They offer a lower price and I decline. By the time we are done, i am back to $60 a year plus the royalty fees for another year.

I really wish there was an alternative to SiriusXM for satellite radio. They used to be separate companies but I guess somehow the FTC let them merge and become a monopoly. They call my phone at least twice a day every single day, always at exactly 8:05 am, and then a bunch of times after that, asking me to renew (thankfully spam call filter always catches it). I still have 8 months left of my trial, but regardless they keep hounding me to renew, incessantly. I like the radio service but I hate the way they conduct business.

Unfortunately I don't really have any choice, if I want music/radio up in the mountains where FM and cellular don't cover; I'm far too lazy to download and organize my own music collection, I prefer just picking an XM station and letting them decide what they want me to listen to lol

I've had a cc on file with them for about 6 years and no issues. I have 2 subscriptions each is 12 months at $5 per month. When one expires they charge the regular fee, around $25 plus tax, and I call them up threatening to cancel. They give me the $5 a month deal and credit the regular monthly fee to the account and I'm actually paid ahead about 4 months.

My subscription expires in a little over a month. So I called them, and renewed for 12 months @ $4.99/month. I don't need the premium plan or the premium channels - I just want to listen to tunes while driving (I don't have SiriusXM on my phone or anything like that).

And this might sound paranoid, but since SiriusXM is already kinda integrated into my Jeep's entertainment system, I don't know what might happen if I no longer was subscribed. Would it affect other things?

Yep. I just did this recently as well. Did the whole thing via chat. $4.99/mo for 12 months. Started at $29.99/mo. Just keep telling them 'sorry, can't afford that'... and they'll keep finding "special offers"... :)

As for letting SXM expire, don't worry. I did that with the Renegade I had previously and it didn't affect anything else in the head-unit, just Sirius.

IIRC, you just get one channel telling you how to renew your subscription.

Just renewed mine with a similar experience. Need to remember to call them 12 months from now.

Download their app so you can listen to Tom Petty’s buried treasure channel.
