I am in the endless wait for a new jeep and I was suddenly curious if there is any reason why I have to sign up for the Sirius XM service for the jeep to function with all features.

You don't. If the '24 models come with Sirius Guardian, which is not SiriusXM (you get a trial), you get a trial. Sirius Guardian allows you to unlock, lock, start, etc. your vehicle from your phone. After the trial ends, you need to then subscribe to continue that service if you want it. It is NOT required.

Just posted this a few days ago, but when you take delivery of your new Wrangler they'll make you sign up for an account for the uConnect/Jeep app and you'll receive a 6-month trial for SiriusXM music, a 1-year trial for SiriusXM Guardian (remote start, tracking, etc) and a 5-year trial for both SiriusXM Travel Link (weather, gas prices) and SiriusXM Travel Plus (traffic routing if you have nav).

Was wondering why sirius subscription was up but the guardian functions still works. Looks like the guardian remote package is $12.99/mo and includes vehicle locator as a base subscription, which is the feature I care about most.
